The new Economy[edit]

Data of appearance: 28-04-2002, season 16

These changes will be effective from season 16.

After hard negotiations the Hattrick Committee and the teams finally agreed on the prizing for the next seasons. This is what they agreed:

Level 1st prize 2nd prize 3rd prize 4th prize
Top 375 000 € 247 500 € 187 500 € 94 000 €
Level 2 275 000 € 180 000 € 135 000 € 67 500 €
Level 3 187 500 € 120 000 € 90 000 € 45 000 €
Level 4 120 000 € 75 000 € 60 000 € 30 000 €
Level 5 75 000 € 45 000 € 37 500 € 19 000 €
Level 6 45 000 € 30 000 € 22 500 € 11 500 €
Level 7 30 000 € 22 500 € 15 000 € 7 500 €

The prizing for the cup was also discussed and the winner gets 400 000 €, second place 200 000 € and for the 3rd and 4th place the prize will be 100 000 € each.

The teams also agreed that a special bonus should be given to those who manage to promote their team to a higher level. You don't get as much if you have to play a qualifying match to promote to the next level, and if you lose your qualifying match you get nothing.

Level Not qualifying Qualifying
Top Level 525 000 €
Level 2 380 000 € 120 000 €
Level 3 260 000 € 80 000 €
Level 4 170 000 € 50 000 €
Level 5 100 000 € 30 000 €
Level 6 60 000 € 20 000 €
Level 7 40 000 € 10 000 €

Here are some examples of how the bonus system may look:

Club A wins its 4th level division and is promoted without qualification to the 3rd level. They will get: 120 000 euro in prize money for winning a 4th level division. 170 000 euro in bonus for being promoted without qualification. Total: 290 000 euro.

Club B wins its 4th level division and wins a qualifying game to be promoted to the 3rd level. They will get: 120 000 euro in prize money for winning a 4th level division. 50 000 euro in bonus for being promoted after a qualification game. Total: 170 000 euro.

Club C wins its 4th level division but loses the qualifying game - and doesn't get promoted. They will get: 120 000 euro in prize money for winning a 4th level division. No bonus because they lost the qualification game. Total: 120 000 euro.

The winner of the top level always get bonus for winning the league!

Also, after a long week with hard negotiations between Hattrick economy department and the player association we agreed:

The player agents get 5 % instead of 10 % when selling players. The remaining 5 % is divided like this: 3% to the last owner and 2 % to the original club.

Here are some examples of the new transfer system, available from season 16. To visualize the example as clear as possible the transfer sum will always be 100 000 euro.

The player Don Andersson is promoted from the youth setup to club A. Club A decides to sell him at once, to club B for 100 000 euro. Club A gets 90 000 (Transfer Sum minus Agent Fee, Last Owner Fee and Original Club Fee) + 2 000 (2% of the transfer sum because club A is also the original club) = 92 000 euro. The agent gets 5% of the transfer sum, which equals 5 000 euro. There is no last owner, so those 3% are lost.

When club B has trained the player a little and sells him to club C for 100 000 euro, the money will be divides as follows: Club B gets 90 000 (Transfer Sum minus Agent Fee, Last Owner Fee and Original Club Fee). The agent gets 5 000 (5% Agent Fee). Club A gets 3 000 (3% Last Owner Fee) + 2 000 (2% Original Club Fee).

When club C decides to sell the player to club D for 100 000, the following happens: Club C gets 90 000 (Transfer Sum minus Agent Fee, Last Owner Fee and Original Club Fee). The agent gets 5 000 (5% Agent Fee). Club B gets 3 000 (3% Last Owner Fee). Club A gets 2 000 (2% Original Club Fee).

The supporters are known to be quickly angry after one loss, even if you won the 10 games before. So from now on, your supporters will be "smarter" when playing against high-level teams in the cup. They will also be more interested in that you actually win your games and not that much that you win by 3-4 goals each time. Summary: It always good to play offensive and score a lot of goals, but your supporters accept if you play smart defensive tactics aswell.

We also like to encourage success in Hattrick and if you manage to advance to a higher level you can need an economic contribution. So that means, besides the money, you will also get 10% more supporters! If you fail to stay in your level and drops to the level below, you will lose 10% of your supporters.

Walk-over is something that should never happen, but if it does:

WO in a series/cup - game: 10 % loss of your supporters WO in friendly game: no effect of training that week

The negotiations about the wages result in that all wages should be set as the playmaker wages are calculated this season. That means that all abilities, except from the winger will cost as much as the playmaking. The result of this will be that scorers and defensemen will cost less, while the goalies will cost you a bit more.

Some countries have a boost today. This will be changed like this:

The starting amount will be 150 000 € together with 600 supporters (Sweden) New teams in new leagues will have the same boost as today except that they will not receive a "super player" When active users for a league reach 300 the extra boost for this league will be removed.

Since the economy is a complex but important issue in Hattrick there will be an economy council that will have an extra eye on the money flow in the game. This council will consist of 3 members from the HT-Team (HT-Martin, HT-Stefan and HT-Peter) together with some more users from the game. The council's main task will be to discuss and follow up the Hattrick economy. More information about this will be available when the council is made up.
