You can field the members of your squad on many different positions. The default hattrick line-up contains two Wing backs, two central defenders, two wingers, two midfielders and two strikers, all played with the normal order.
When putting players on different field positions to set a different line-up it's important to remember that playing more than three players on a central position will lead to loss of training. Individual orders will keep the player on his current position (though contributing a bit different to the ratings). Giving the player the order to play as "Extra ..." will make him move to a different position.
