Normal wing back
A normal wing back is a player in defensive position with no particular individual order. Just like other "normal" fielded player in your starting 11, he plays at the maximum overall performance with no penalty to the skill's contribution.
Rule of Thumb
The Wing skill on a normal wing back should be high enough to make an impact on the wing attack rating and to justify the sacrifice of defence rating. The more wing skill, the greater the impact on the attack.
There are no fixed amounts of wing, but, to ensure a fair trade, the wing skill level should come close to that of Defending. The Wing skill on a Normal Wing back should be valued with the following considerations:
- How much is the WB's defence rating? The higher is the Defending on the wing back, the better he plays as defensive wing back (and the higher is the sacrifice to the defense rating by playing the normal wing back).
i.e., A wing back with "world class" Defending and "inadequate" wing skill would make for a very poor trade in playing that player as a "normal" wing back.
- How much is the Wing level? Wing backs are high contributor to wing attack, so the wing skill on a wing back should be substantial enough to make an impact. The reason for playing your wing back "normal" or "offensive" is to make an impact on the wing attack rating.
The Wing contribution of wing backs has been enhanced twice over the years. The contribution to central defence of Wing backs played "defensive" has been reduced as well. At the time this market was new in Hattrick, there were not many players suitable for being played as normal wing backs.
