The Burninators are a Canadian team managed by keqrops, who started Hattrick in season 11, at a time when the Homestar Runner references that generated the team name, arena and fanclub seemed slightly less dated than they do today. The Burninators promoted to the All-Canadian for the first time at the end of season 23, and spent several seasons yo-yo-ing between high finishes in II and qualifier finishes in the All-Canadian. They were unexpected All-Canadian champions in season 32, and somewhat less unexpectedly won a second title in season 35; their best Cup finish was an extra-time defeat in the season 32 semi-final.
They are one of the comparatively few teams to have achieved success with a defensive coach. This, allied to regular use of the counter-attacks tactic and high passing and set pieces skills throughout the squad, has defined the style of the team for many seasons now.
Trivia
- The Burninators are the only team to have conceded fewer than ten goals in an All-Canadian season where all eight teams in the league were attempting to compete.
- Francisco Jesús Barca, the Burninators' coach for their season 35 title win, was also a coach for the national team in season 34.
- The Burninators have consistently had the smallest fan club in the All-Canadian since early in season 33.
- Except for a couple of late-season rentals (one played three games, the other played two) to replace injured players, the Burninators squad that won the All-Canadian in season 32 contained no outfielders with a main skill higher than titanic.
- Similarly, the Burninators won their season 35 title without using any players with a main skill higher than extra-terrestrial.
