A player before and after promotion to coach

A future coach or coach-to-be is a player who is candidate to be coach for a team one day or later. The conversion is usually cheaper than buying a coach from outside.

Leadership

It's more reasonable to consider for conversion only players with high leadership, as otherwise the external coach is much more easier. As with regular skills, leadership has sub-levels, so getting the precise value is not possible. That means that the new coach begins with "high" or "low" leadership sub-level. This is not a little difference, since the first drop in skill can take place between 112 (if low leadership) and 335 (if high leadership) days from the promotion.

Experience

Despite it's possible to convert a player with weak leadership into a coach, a player becomes worthy a conversion when he's passable or better in experience.

Since a player needs to gain 28 experience points during matches to advance to next level of experience is it possible to know the precise value of experience of a player. This is useful when you are waiting for the next pop to convert your future coach.

Track experience gain

In general you can not see exact amount of points. However there is a process for players who:

  • have a minimum of inadequate experience,
  • have been in your club for at the least 16 weeks (1 season).

For other players there is sadly not any good way to estimate the experience points.

How can I see how many experience points a player has earned?

An effective method for calculation of player's experience gain on the basis of how much it costs to turn the player into a coach. To do that check the price for making him an inadequate that you need, no matter how high a level of experience the player has. His tactical skills are not important. Remember that

1 Level Experience = 28 XP points

All you need is the following table:

Experience points based on how much it costs in US$/€ to turn him into coach [1]
Sublevel Level of Experience
XP Points (%) Inadequate Passable Solid Excellent Formidable Outstanding Brilliant Magnificent World class

Do this:

  • choose my club and "training",
  • click "Change Coach" and then "use existing player",
  • choose the player you want to investigate,
  • see how much it costs to make him into an inadequate coach,
  • compared the price to the table above and in that way you can see how many points your player has gained.

For example:

If the player's convertion costs 21 000 € it means that he has Formidable experience with between 8 and 9 experience points.
This means he is lacking at least 19 point to next level.

Hoarding of Future Coaches

The "Future Coaches Hype" was a very widespread phenomenon around 2020. The problem there was that many users were investing in players that had little use on the field, but who had the profile to be converted to coaches in the future. Since these players were not expected to drop in value at all, despite becoming older and receiving no training, they became a way of holding cash for the future outside the Board Reserves system.

A broad review of the in-game economy was started to reduce the practice. After the changes announced in Autumn 20020 which should have affected the pricing of “Future Coaches”, the first attempt ended up cancelling in the end. The proposal was to solve hoarding of “Future Coaches” by making them more expensive to convert, thus essentially killing the market for them overnight, but it was too heavy-handed and it didn’t even solve the real problem, as other types of players could be used in a similar way.

To redefine the problem, the Hattrick Team aimed for a reform where the Board Reserves absorb excess cash generated by future coaches trading, to access that cash in a controlled manner.
