Eugenio Moreno Blanco is a retired Spanish football player, who achieved the greatest success of his career at Lokomotiv Veltem Back-on-Track in Belgium.
Moreno Blanco joined Lokomotiv Veltem Back-on-Track in season 77 and was a starting team defender for nearly nine full seasons, when his career suddenly stopped in dramatic fashion. In round 2 of global season 86, with just one minute to play before the end of the match, Moreno Blanco suddenly felt a sting in his back and despite the clock almost run down, he signalled to be substituted immediately. The initial verdict by the medical staff was that he would be out for six weeks, but already at 37 years of age, his injury took much longer to heal. Desperate to come back, Moreno Blanco put in all the effort and managed to be fully recovered and back into shape by the start of the next season, after more than double the time initially estimated to be necessary. In the opening match of season 87, the first round of the cup, Moreno Blanco seemed to be making a dream comeback as he was subbed in and given valuable time as the team was already up 0-3, then he left his spot in central defence to come in from the right and score the 0-4 goal, basically sending Lokomotiv Veltem Back-on-Track into the next round. But then with only a few minutes left, disaster struck as history repeated itself: again he felt an intense pain in his back, more hurtful than ever before and he knew instantly his comeback would stop with just this one appearance and his career had come to an end then and there.
