Giorgios "George" Doukas is the silent architect of Biherawi SC's economic model: a man who doesn't appear much on camera, but whose influence is felt in every important decision of the club. Is the first chairman of Biherawi Sporting Club elected by the board of founding members

Biography

Doukas studied International Economics and Finance in University of Athens, and a MBA in Sports Management and Finance – European program in partnership with schools in Italy and Greece, George worked for years as a consultant on projects involving logistics infrastructure, Mediterranean–Red Sea maritime trade, financial audits for transport and export companies. His specialty was always structuring capital: transforming ambitious projects into sustainable plans. He worked with Carlos Daskalaris in some projects in Greece, especially in sports and crisis management projects for some years

In the 2010s, he worked with companies involved in trade routes to East Africa, which took him to Ethiopia.

In Ethiopia

Doukas first arrived in Addis Ababa as a financial consultant on regional transportation and connectivity projects. There he met Yonas Abebe during a private investment and urban development forum. At first, they were just professional contacts, but over time they became close friends: Doukas admired Yonas's national vision, and Yonas admired George's European pragmatism.

Biherawi

Doukas was the first chairman of Biherawi Sporting Club with Abebe as a part of the board, Their main responsibilities include the designing the annual budget, planning the stadium and high-performance center, conducting preventative internal audits, creating sustainable salary models, negotiating with international sponsors, liaising with European banks and partners and protecting the club from corruption and populist spending

Doukas is the founder of The Doukas Financial Framework A model based on: maximum spending per squad (realistic salary cap), heavy investment in the academy, buying young players with resale potential, prohibition of toxic debt and transparency as a club policy tool

Although a foreigner, Doukas earned respect because he never tried to "Europeanize" the club. In fact, he himself insisted that Biherawi maintain the national symbols, a unifying narrative and the priority for local talent His vision was clear: "Ethiopia doesn't need to copy Europe. Ethiopia needs to organize itself like Europe."
