The point I'm making is that if you can't even have the patience to finish the manager license hattrick probably isn't the game for you.

I believe the manager licence is stopping users before they get a chance to fall in love with the game.Well, we'll see who's right and wrong, or perhaps "more right" than the other one.

As I mentioned in the last thread about this issue (two weeks ago?), we're investigating how we can make the whole newbie experience a lot better. There is definitely A LOT to improve here, and I'm not that fond of the current solution either. I think there are much better ways to welcome and tutor new managers, as well as enhance the game fun for these users.

But until the "new way" is wrapped up and ready for use, we will make tests to see wether we should keep the MLC or skip it completely. Just to see what actually works the best, and not rely on guesses. :)

I started this thread after I recognised 4 names from other games I played and I asked them. You already know why as I mentioned it earlier.

They are happy to play other similar games though - that do NOT have a manager licence.

As I said, I don't think the MLC is that good. But fact is that the MLC has had a very good impact on the "stay rate" (pretty much on the contrary to what I thought), so one shouldn't just change something which clearly did work just because it's in your belief that it doesn't work anymore. So, we'll test things first.

You mentioned a few weeks back a wish in the long term to make the various national mentoring schemes 'official' in some way and open to all new users. I firmly believe this is the best way forward and will much more useful to new users than the current MLC.And I totally agree on that. Mentors is a really good way (probably the best) to introduce new users to the game, and at the same time you also create connections with other users (which Hattrick also is about).
What I'm looking at now is to improve the whole introduction to the game. It's not just about tutor new users about the game, I think there are other basic things which need to be improved as well. Such as the "story", for example. But to this introduction the game should offer, I also want to knit mentors. That is, make it possible for users to get an official mentor if they want.
That said I don't want to start a monster project right away (it's big as it is really). So, first step: make sure the introduction the game offers is good. Second step: Knit a mentor system to it. That's the overall plan.
