Paata Janashvili

Paata Janashvili is legendary retired football player who used to play in Gulebi and Meteori. The majority of his great career he spent in Gulebi, playing as central forward. He was given number 9 shirt even when he was only 16 years. He was not fast, but his ability to shoot by his right foot like a cannon has made him one of the best. For his 15 Years spent in Gulebi Janashvili scored so many goals that nobody could count it. So the number of goals is unknown. But we know, that most of them was scored by head. At the age of 31 Janashvili moved to Meteori where he was only a shadow of his past. Some say that he loved Gulebi too much and could not prove himself in other team.

Nowadays stadium of Winagulebi is named after Paata's name. He is also the founder of prestigious tournament Paata Janashvili Cup.

Paata Janashvili's son Bejan Janashvili is also footballer and playes for Gulebi.
