change of pagina title
Hey,
I changed my pagina Title again, because my team name is commonly known as Red Star Brussels. In Belgium, team prefixes are often based on the origins of the team, but are not always referred to in common talk or writing. I prefer to keep the standard name thus. Also, i wouldn't want to go change all my other articles that are connected to it again...
- I moved the page again (this time correctly) because that is the team's full name. Pages that link to Red Star Brussels still lead to the correct article, so no need to change them. --Jhattara 21:48, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Big red button?
Your bot page mentions a "big red button", but such a button is not in evidence. --Mr_Wednesday 17:59, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
- Good catch. I removed that sentence from the template. --Jhattara 07:38, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
Country data templates
Just curious what you're up to with all of these new templates? I assume it's part of a bigger plan. --Mr_Wednesday 19:11, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
- Trying to reduce the number of active templates and make using and editing them a bit easier. With all those Country data templates formatted exactly the same way it's easy for me to put a bot if they need some editing, if the core template is in need of improvements. And if just the flag and flagicon (maybe others in the future) need fixing, I just need to edit them, instead of hundreds of templates. Instead of the current {{Flag/ALG}} and {{Flag/ALGn}} with these you can use {{Flagicon|Algeria}} or {{Flag|ALG}}. I have lots of ideas how to improve this wiki, this is just one I thought I could start doing by myself. --Jhattara 19:55, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
Regions in Turkey
That might be a good idea yea :). All the links are in the Template. ZF-Nightwish 17:55, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
- Not that I know, I'm checking the countries one by one now. If they added 50 regions somewhere else I let you know. ZF-Nightwish 18:08, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Club template
Template:Club A user changed and redicected this. Now it doesn't work properly. Can you revert the edits to the old version? Thanks Hellas220 07:47, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- Can you tell me the pages where it doesn't work properly. --Jhattara 08:54, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
Ferentillese
Hi, I created the page about my team. Can I do it or it's a problem? --Ichabod-Crane 10:05, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
- Sure. I'll do some modifications there for administration reasons, unless another admin gets there before myself. --Jhattara 13:55, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, thank you very much --Ichabod-Crane 10:40, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
Suggestion: Translation
Not knowing where to place this one, I'll do it on a discussion page - and of all users listed as admin I just picked you. Bad luck :p Well... what I'm just after stumbling upon, is this: Google Translate extension for MediaWiki.
For instance (MediaWiki experienced know that: internationalization is a long process) and for user pages such as their clubs this would be a neat addon. Counterpart is the negative prestige Google has even among IT professionals (many of them still only are too thick to prevent being data-mined by just anyone).
I'm not affiliated with Google, and seriously: I prefer proper translation to some bot. But well... in the meantime... :) • Lirion (Λιριων, Лирион, ليريون) wtf? • 14:03, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
- Google Translate at best creates confusion, at worst outright misunderstanding. So in short: If it's up to me Google Translate won't be used in here. --Jhattara 18:49, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
Loops?
Spontaneously I couldn't find something over here, be it mediawiki, help or templates...
Is this MediaWiki installation able to handle loops? Something like LoopFunctions? Loops would be deadly necessary for abstract templates being able to handle an arbitrary number of input variables; such as squad templates, match templates (goals, cards; all that differs). Additionally I found no template that flexible...
Sorry for bothering you on your discussion site, but I also miss portals here :) Or I've been just too thick to find them until now. • Lirion (Λιριων, Лирион, ليريون) wtf? • 13:03, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
- I haven't looked into the loop templates. If you can give me examples that have been done using those, I could look into them. As for portals: feel free to make them yourself, if you feel like you're up for the task. --Jhattara 18:26, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
- If "make them for myself" means just create them, I guess it's okay with me whenever I find the time. As for loops: take a look at User:Lirion/Sandbox/Squad. This is 32 times a bunch of code and excludes people who want more than 32 players, where one time would be enough adding two or three lines and would make this FLEXIBLE. Plus: changing code there is a heckload of fumbly work. In the long run this will save mentionable database space; meanwhile it will save us editors a LOT OF WORK. Take a look at the extension I linked before, it integrates fine (I already did this with MediaWiki 1.15). This will at least introduce for-loops to MediaWiki. If this now isn't enough said, ask a programmer; if it is enough, you are one yourself ;) • Lirion (Λιριων, Лирион, ليريون) wtf? • 23:18, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
- PS: If I got you wrong now and there ARE loops already integrated, then ignore the above and please tell me where to find them :) • Lirion (Λιριων, Лирион, ليريون) wtf? • 23:19, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
- P.P.S. Special:Version only lists ParserFunctions, and this does not include loops
- Instead of using looping templates you can always use the model Header template:Line template:End template, like the Category:Infobox templates. But I'll look into those loops, when I get the time. And yeah, you can just create the portals if you feel like it. --Jhattara 23:55, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
- HeaderTemplate:LineTemplate:EndTemplate don't save work as I described above... in the ideal case of only one line per player the squad of a team with 32 players results in 32 lines; with a loop this will be 3 lines(!!!). Your example needs still to be called 32 times, a loop example will call itself 32 times with no extra code, none, nay. If you ever come to programming, you will stumble upon loops - they just are an essential. Just for info :) Thanks for looking that up. Hopefully we'll soon see the ext =) • Lirion (Λιριων, Лирион, ليريون) wtf? • 09:42, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
- P.S.: Plus: A template like you described will have, let's say, 50 if expressions which have to be worked every time someone calls it up. (Do we have a 40th player? Do we have a 41st player? Do we do we do we...) A team with 16 players still will need 50 calls! A loop will only need 16 calls, and another team with 27 players takes its 27 calls. Period. I can't stress too much how much work you save for the servers (load balancing) and for the users, sorry. • Lirion (Λιριων, Лирион, ليريون) wtf? • 12:29, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
- How much more efficiently this could be done: FC_Kakskerta#Current_Players ? Ok, now I use 4 different template, calling one of those once for each player, and a start, mid and end template. But I can't see the advantage. --Jhattara 16:09, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
- At the moment, this seems to be a valid argument concerning effectiveness :) However, if you like centralization, then loops get interesting... here's my effort: User:Lirion/Sandbox/Squad. I'm the person who puts the (mechanical) brain before the data and not vice versa. Thence my call for loops. I guess, in this case you are right :) I don't even know which variant is faster with MediaWiki - yours or mine with loops. Would have to be tested :) • Lirion (Λιριων, Лирион, ليريون) wtf? • 18:52, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
- Okay. I guess what finally made me do the centralization thing, was the thought of sortable tables. I never tried to split up a table and somehow seemed to have thought that you can't sort tables put together by other tables (which would be right, but not if you do it with parts).
So big, big sorry for making such a fuss about something which will, definitely, be a nice feature but isn't that deadly necessary. • Lirion (Λιριων, Лирион, ليريون) wtf? • 14:07, 23 July 2010 (UTC)- No problem. --Jhattara 18:53, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

New templates
Thank you Jhattara, I will work soon for a new template for leagues. It's very hard to update League Series and sometimes boring. If you have an idea, please tell me.
By the way, I've been breaking my mind trying to put the age of the player, I have this source but I don't know how the change the year in order to have 112 days per year. Do you have any idea? --Lleida 19:32, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
- Age calculator: I will wait for one day to check if it works and then I will add it in new templates. Done (see in Template:Es/Contar días)
- Thank you very much! It's working in Template:Infobox Player --Lleida 12:56, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
Current spam problem
As you can see on the Recent Changes Page, our wiki has recently been discovered as easily accessible for spam (bots).
I urge all active administrators to immdiately take countermeasures; such as a captcha for the registration process. That is spread all over Wikipedia, so there's at least one mediawiki extension known to work fine and easy to implement.
Thank you for reading. • Lirion (Λιριων, Лирион, ليريون) wtf? • 08:02, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
trophy templates
The user Para Para make a image link on all the Trophy templates. I did a backup and asked him about that. I saw that you worked about Trophy templates so I reported that to you. Bye. --Lucaxvi 21:40, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
