Torden Fotballklubb (commonly known as Torden FK) is a Norwegian hattrick club formed 01.03.2004, playing on level five in Norway. The club has won the Norwegian divison five three times and the division six thirteen times. They have reached the 4th round of the Norwegian Cup (Norgesmesterskapet), and can also boast a final in the Norwegian Consolation Cup. Their best ever achievement in the league is an eight place in division four.

TFK is one of the oldest clubs still active in Hedmark. They play their home games at Nyhøyden Idrettspark (80 106), only about a kilometer away from their rivals at Nyhøyden Atletiske Sportsklubb, whom they contest the Nyhøyden Derby. The name Torden is Norwegian for Thunder.

History

The club was established 01 march 2004 by ht user Maggsy, who came across an article about Hattrick in a Norwegian newspaper. He wanted to add more soul into the club and the game, so he made it a workers-club with special ties to Nyhøyden, a fictitious area outside Kongsvinger. The clubs name in the very first season was Magnusia FC, before changing to todays name the following season.

Season 11-19: The first years (2004-2007)

The Club, originally formed as Magnusia FC, joined the Norwegian league in season 11 and debuted 03 march 2004 in a crushing 1-7 defeat in the National Cup first round. A few days later, they conducted their first league game in division five with another big defeat before finally securing their first ever win in the upcoming round.

TFK managed to stay in division five for two consecutive seasons before being relegated to division six in season 13, only one point from a safe place. In season 14, the club almost made a clean slate, going through the entire season with thirteen wins, one draw and a goal difference of 76-11 which earned them their first ever trophy. As a result, they were back on level five in what turned out to be another fantastic season and a third place.

In season 16, 17 and 18, the club managed to hold the top spots in their division, but then finished six in season 19, leading to a qualification match which they lost. Once again, the club had to contend with relegation to division six.

Players such as Arno Bodineau, Patrycjusz Dobrosz, Ionut Ungureanu, Gunnar Erik Høj Pedersen, Steinar Berntsen and Rober Chalmers are particularly remembered from this first period. The latter stayed at TFK for twelve seasons and made 189 cup/league-appearances featuring 62 clean sheets.

During these first years, Nyhøyden Idrettspark saw a major upgrade from a small 10 000-seater to a big modern stadium with approximately 45 000 seats.

Season 20-33: The roller-coaster-period (2007-2011)

Season 20 to 33 was a tough roller-coaster-period for the club. Since the relegation in season 19, the club needed another six seasons before they were finally back in division five. However, they were unable to stay up and the next season once again saw them back on level six. In season 28 TFK were back again in division five, only lasting for two seasons before once again being relegated. TFKs biggest league win (12-0) occured in season 30, while their biggest cup defeat (0-11) took place in season 32. A fairly aptly picture of the yo-yo period.

The clubs biggest triumph this period was reaching the fourth round in the Norwegian Cup (season 23). During their 9-year cup history, this was the furthest they've reached.

Players especially worth mentioning from this period were the two forwards; Rune "Lynet" Nilsen and Kenneth Solberg, who scored a total of over 500 goals all together. The former produced 34(!) hattricks for TFK and is still the only player to have scored 6 goals in the same match. An achievement he accomplished twice. Nilsen would later go on and lead the club as their manager for thirteen seasons, including two league division titles.

Season 34-68: Ten years of absence (2011-2021)

Season 34 to 68 (2011 to 2021) must be seen as the club's absolute zero point. A few random training matches were organized during the period, but particularly from 2013 the activity was at a minimum with only one training match organized during eight years(!). In season 55 and 56 TFK actually had several games where they had to walk off the pitch without even starting the game, failing to provide enough players. It says a lot about the lack of interest in the period. However, manager Maggsy always remembered to log into hattrick regularly, making sure the team never got kicked out of the system.

During this long dark period, the team managed to stay in division five for a few seasons, before an eternal roller coaster journey sent them up and down division five and six. Season 41, in particular, stands out as a disastrously horrible season for TFK, finishing last in division six with only a single point. All in all that season, they went a total of fourteen games without winning - a club record still standing in a negative sense.

Memorable TFK-players from this period were Gonzalo Ribeiro and Mohammed "Brosjan" Roshan. Ribeiro still holds the record for most league- and cup appearances (428) and is the only player ever to receive the gold watch (more than 400 league- and cup games). He also scored a total of 187 league goals during his period at the club. Bangladeshian forward Mohammed "Brorsan" Roshan, scored a total of 143 goals in his TFK-period and would later bring home three league trophies as the clubs manager.

Season 69-74: The comeback years (2022-2024)

21 january 2022 proved to be an important day for the club. After more than ten years of inactivity, the manager returned and a long-term course was staked out. The goal was clear; a maximum of five seasons before reaching level four for the first time. Most of the squad was replaced and legend Mohammed "Brorsan" Roshan took over as manager. Towards the middle of season 69, TFK climbed from last place to third place, and in the following season (season 70) TFK won all of their games, securing a promotion to the division V. In addition, the club won its first ever international title, in a play-off with 64 teams from all around the world.

Season 71 saw TFK climbing to the top of league, securing their first ever division-five-trophy. In the upcoming season (season 72), the club once again won the league, but unfortunately lost the play-off. In season 73 they ended up second, before finally securing a direct promotion place after a tremendous run in season 74 with fourteen out of fourteen wins and a total of 42 points. The goal of reaching level four within five seasons was accomplished!

Notable players from this period were Dorus Bras, Meles Woldedelassie and Caspar David Homner. Bras reached 297 games and 178 goals for TFK, while Woldedelassie became the first TFK-player ever to represent a national team when debuting for the Ethiopian U21-team in season 71. Caspar David Homner played 284 games for TFK, before taking over as a manager from season 74.

Season 75 --> A new time (2024 -->)

In season 75, TFK made their debut on the Norwegian level four (IV.6). After a decent start with two draws in two games, a negative streak evolved as only one point was collected in ten games. When the luck finally turned, it was already too late and relegation was inevitable. In the Norwegian Consolation Cup, however, TFK made a fantastic journey reaching the final. Even though they lost, this was the biggest achievement in the clubs history so far!

Stadium

Torden FKs stadium is Nyhøyden Idrettspark. It has been the team's home ground since it opened in 2004 and has gradually developed over time in both size and shape. From the first stands stood ready with a capacity of 10 000 to today's capacity of 80 106 covered by the new enormous iconic glass roof from 2022.

With its own supporter's lounge, supporter's bar, VIP lodges, underground parking, swimming pool and gym, it can offer most things. The few times a year football is not played, it also features other cultural events.

The record attendance is 74 754, and was set at 30.09.2023 in the league game between TFK and FK Cocio.

Crest and colours

Crest

The club crest concists of a square shaped escutcheon surrounded by a black and yellow scarf at the top and a yellow ribbon with the clubs moto, 'Per Aspera Ad Astra', at the bottom. Inside the escutcheon, a red sun arise from a blue river illustrating "Glomma". The clubs foundation year surrounds the top of the sun, while the letters 'T F K' fills the central vertical line of the escutcheon. The white Fleur-de-lis from the Nyhøyden city coat of arms is depicted at the bottom of the escutcheon, together with the four white cornerstones descending from the same coat of arms.

The yellow and black colours of the crest represents the club colours, while the red and blue colours originates from the Nyhøyden-flag and the Nyhøyden city coat of arms.

Colours

Although the club played in red and a white kits during their first season (11), the club colours of Torden FK are yellow and black. Traditionally this has featured dark yellow and black vertical hoops accompanied by dark yellow shorts and socks with black turn-downs.

Up until season 26, the kits saw a more pale yellow colour while the black colour often featured in only two hoops on the sides or one on each sleeves. This all changed from season 26 when todays dark yellow was applied and the number of black hoops varied from three to four in addition to the one on the sleeves. The implementation of the Nyhøyden-flagg at the neck, was done in season 69 as an homage to their local roots at Nyhøyden.

The predominant colours worn on the away shirts has taken inspiration from the Nyhøyden-flag, with dark green and black vertical hoops, dark green shorts and often dark green and black hooped socks.

As the Match Kit Designer wasn't born until late 2008, the black and yellow jerseys was worn for the first time on 27 December 2008 (season 26) in a match against Glufsa Kameratene. Prior to this, the jerseys were designed by manager Maggsy in the graphic programme Paint, but not shown in the actuall game engine itself.
