There are some kinds of clashes:
federations
When one federation wants to play against another federation, it is called a clash. The size doesn't matter. A lot of fedclashes are played against two federations of neighbouring cities. One of the most famous clash is the clash between the AJAX_Amsterdam_Federation and the Hattrick_Federatie_Rotterdam: The AAF – HFR clash
country
A clash between countries happens when two countries play friendlies with each other. For example: De Interland, a clash between The Netherlands and Belgium
