Season eight is a future edition of the Brăila Cup. It is scheduled to start in May 2011. The board already approved its new competition format. The large amount of registration requests made clear that the number of the teams taking part at the event should be increased. Therefore, 80 teams will start the competition. Sixteen of them will be automatically qualified in the group stage, based on the team coefficient. The 64 remaining teams will take part at a preliminary round. Those teams will be divided into two pots (also based on the coefficient) and drawn together. The 32 winning teams will join the 16 team already qualified in the group stage. The format of this stage will be changed too. The 48 teams will be divided into eight groups of six, with two teams qualifying from each group into the knock-out stages.
