The third edition of the Sealand–CHF Super Cup was played during (Dutch) season 83. Sealand Cup winner De Snelle Jelles defeated CHF-Cup winner FC BOS Trappers to win their first Sealand–CHF Super Cup.

History

After the CHF-Cup was revived, the organisers of that trophy and the Sealand Cup agreed to schedule a super cup between their two federational champions. This was the third time the Sealand–CHF Super Cup was contested.

The two previous Sealand–CHF Super Cups were played during the last weekend of the season, a few days after both finals had been played. The third Sealand–CHF Super Cup was also scheduled for that weekend (29 March), but unfortunately FC BOS Trappers had already arranged another friendly match. The Sealand–CHF Super Cup was therefore postponed to the next season.

The match was finally played during the second-to-last weekend of the next season (12 July). This was because FC BOS Trappers enjoyed a long cup run (last 32), which prevented them from defending their CHF-Cup title. The next Sealand Cup (with De Snelle Jelles) had already begun when FC BOS Trappers was eliminated from cup contention. Because neither of the teams qualified for a play-off-match, the penultimate weekend of the season was the first (and only) free match date available for both teams.

Qualified teams

The third Sealand–CHF Super Cup was played between the winners of CHF-Cup XLIII and Sealand Cup LXIV.

De Snelle Jelles dethroned Als Hij Ons Maar Niet Fluit in the Sealand Cup Final, while FC BOS Trappers won the CHF-Cup Final against record champion Cali '03. The previous CHF-champion E-Hollando was unable to defend their title because they enjoyed a very long cup run (reached the semi-finals) and as a result of that could also not defend their Sealand–CHF Super Cup trophy.

FC BOS Trappers had sold most of their first squad after their final league match and was therefore not at the same strength as they were during their CHF-Cup victory and in the rest of the next season.

Venue

The Sealand–CHF Super Cup was played at a neutral venue, on a rotating basis selected by either Sealand or the CHF. As previous SCSC was played in a CHF-stadium, this time the match was hosted by a Sealand-team.

De Houten Keet, the home stadium of Als Hij Ons Maar Niet Fluit, was selected as host for the third Sealand–CHF Super Cup. Als Hij Ons Maar Niet Fluit was the record champion of the Sealand Cup (seven titles) and the first winner of the Sealand–CHF Super Cup.

The venue was a neutral stadium, because De Snelle Jelles (from Noord-Brabant) played in another region than De Houten Keet (located in Eindhoven). Both Hattrick-regions belonged, however, to the province of North Brabant.

Goalscoring statistics

  • Tamrat Maze became the first non-Dutch player to score twice in the history of the Sealand–CHF Super Cup. The same feat was also achieved by Jeff Bristow.
  • All goalscorers were non-Dutch, which made them the second to sixth non-Dutch goalscorer in the Sealand–CHF Super Cup, after Jan Hrubeš (E-Hollando) in the first edition.
