Re: Translating[edit]

We are currently investigating methods of handling multi-language versions on the wiki. It may involve the creation of new wikis for separate languages. As you may know, some russian users went ahead and created a Russian translation of the main page as well as various other pages. For now, we are allowing this, but ultimately these pages will more than likely be moved to a separate wiki.

My suggestion is that you translate pages under a new sub-directory until we solve the issue of multi-language versions. As far as the name of the sub-directory, the Chinese wikipedia is Zh/, so that seems to be the logical name.

Thanks for your interest in translating the wiki! -Catalyst 00:04:00, 2007-02-01 (UTC)

I moved the chinese language pages you had created under folder Zh/ according to the language code used by the Wikipedia. --Jhattara 23:22, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

What is the difference between Zh and Zh-yue? You should also tag the pages you make in Chinese like Ru/5-5-0 indicating what page they are translated from. --Jhattara 09:55, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

I meant the tag in the end of Ru/5-5-0 indicating that the original article in English HT-wiki is 5-5-0. I see no reason for you not to use also Zh-yue/ folder. --Jhattara 10:05, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Yes. You can use Zh-yue/ folder. --Jhattara 10:22, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

1st Division League[edit]

If you first tell me where it is also in use in Hattrick. There is no reason to have 1st Division League (Hong Kong) if there are no other 1st Division Leagues in Hattrick. --Jhattara 11:59, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

__NOTOC__ means that no table of contents will be shown in the page. --Jhattara 12:30, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you mean... what exactly happened? -Catalyst 23:00:35, 2007-02-04 (UTC)

Zh/Flag/ templates[edit]

Why did you blank those templates? Did you know that they are used in the chinese U20 world cup page. --Jhattara 08:25, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

If you think that the names of HT-countries should be as in Hattrick you should rather edit the Zh/Flag/ templates because it's easier to link them when you start making country articles in chinese. --Jhattara 10:08, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Cantonese vs Hong Kong[edit]

They don't use the language. They use the adjective. Most countries that have their own languages the adjective and language is the same. For example Finnish for Finland. But Brazilian for example is only an adjective describing those who live in Brazil. I'm going to change it back to Hong Kong. This time i'm just more thorough. --Jhattara 08:55, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Is Cantonese always from Hong Kong? No. Is Guangdong a region in China? Yes. Is the adjective describing people from Guangdong in Engling Cantonese? Yes. Therefore Cantonese as an adjective could be mistaken to mean Chinese from Guangdong region. The "adjective" used to describe people from Hong Kong is simply "Hong Kong". Or do you have a better alternative other than Cantonese? --Jhattara 11:12, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Match Report Template[edit]

That template works on a page that has only a single match report, but as such it cannot be used in a page that has lots of other content. --Jhattara 11:16, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

I moved your template to Template:Match report and edited it a bit. --Jhattara 11:29, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

Show preview[edit]

When editing a page you should use the Show preview button to see changes instead of making dozens of edits of a single page during a single edit session. --Jhattara 11:16, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

Use Show Preview button. Then you can check the edits before saving them. If you edit the same page multiple times within a small period of time you have to reload the edit page each time with the reload button, depending on the browser settings. Using the Show Preview button is safer. And makes my job a lot easier. --Jhattara 11:26, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

It would help if you would tell what that text says. And about administrators in the Chinese Wiki I'd suggest you to contact HT-Tjecken about it. --Jhattara 11:27, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

I contacted Tjecken myself concerning the needs for Russian and Chinese speaking HT-wiki administrators. --Jhattara 07:27, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Hong Kong Unofficial Championship[edit]

Normally I would take the lowest id of the oldest teams in the country and start from there. But in case of Hong Kong I think that the lowest match id with two human teams would be appropriate. --Jhattara 18:09, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Actually, the idea is we protect pages for translation projects which haven't begun, so that we can control the start of projects without administrative permission. For now, since the Chinese translation is a work in progress, its main page will remain unprotected.

Empty pages[edit]

If you want the empty pages deleted please mark them with {{Delete}}. I took the liberty of deleting the DDT Mathematics United pages you blanked and had no links pointing to them. --Jhattara 10:03, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Protecting own pages[edit]

I don't think that protection would be necessary unless vandalism becomes an issue. --Jhattara 12:42, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
