An '''injury''', unless very slight, will put [[players]] on the treatment table for a couple of games. The [[Medic#Injury_risk|risk of injuries]] increases as the team increases the [[Assistant_coach|intensity of training with the Assistant Coaches]] on the staff.
A [[Medic]] can be hired to help players heal faster. Medic also helps reducing the risk for injuries to your players, but sometimes they get injured anyway. Injuries do still occur even to teams with top level Medic and there is not a lot you can do about it.
The time for injuries to heal ranges from +1 to +9 (note that the + sign represents the red cross you can see in HT if a player is injured). Note that although the injury time is displayed in weeks, the actual healing time may vary. This is primarily dependent on the age of the player. The older he gets, the longer it will take to heal. The weeks displayed are just a standardized indication of the severeness of the injury.
Older players take a longer time to heal, and approaching their forties will have a hard time to recover at all though. After their 40th birthday there will be no hope to see them on pitch again.
You can hire [[doctor]]s to speed up the healing process. Physiotherapists will help players prevent injuries in the first place.

A player can not play as long as he's injured, but he is still able to get training for the minutes he played during the week.
If you do try to field an injured player anyway, he will be replaced by a substitute as soon as the match begins.
Picture A: This trained player was injured +4 at minute 60 of his last league match.
He can't play for quite a while, but he will get 2/3 of the regular training.
His TSI is will drop from 23 720 to around 13 000 (4.50 weeks to full recovery) on the very next update.
B) +2 Injury 2 weeks after
An injured player can't follow training if he can't be fielded during the week.
Picture B: After 2 and a half weeks the same player is still injured. He can't be fielded for at least another full week.
But now he's +2, with TSI 21230 (2.05 weeks to full recovery).
Note: Previously only +1 injured got trained, but there isn't anymore any difference training-wise between +1 and for example +4 injuries.
C) Bruised, but playing
Once a player almost recovered he gets a bandage next to his name instead of the red plus.
A bruised player can play, but will perform slightly below his capacities.
Picture C: Now the player is bruised, but ready to play again on next friendly match (less than 1 week to full recovery).
He will perform slightly below his capacities.
Three full weeks of training are now lost.
When the bandage is removed, a player is back to his old level, that is if he didn't get a major form crisis in the meantime.
Time to heal
The basic time for injuries to heal ranges from +1 week to +4 weeks .However the actual healing time displayed may vary, primarily depending on the age of the player: the older he gets, the longer a player will take to heal.
With his age malus added, injury can reach +5, +6, +7, +8 weeks ...and over 40yo they get a +∞ (infinite or no hope of recovery).
The following contents are based on experience and/or research conducted by Hattrick users — which means that their veracity and accuracy have not been confirmed by any official statement, and consequently they do not necessarily reflect the game reality. Please take this into consideration!
Hattrick would simply display a +2, but injuries have sublevels too. There is a direct connection between player's TSI and displayed number of weeks for an injury. If there is no form change or training after the player was last healthy you can use this formula to calculate the injury sublevel:
Injury weeks = 10 * ( 1 - tsi1 / tsi0 )
tsi0 is player's TSI when not injured
tsi1 is TSI after first player's update (or after any update without form changes)
Example:
Vincent Brasse (see picture A above) get injured in a league match. His tsi0 is 23 720 at the time directly before the injury. Then TSI at the first update tsi1 became e.g. 13 000. So injury real level is actually near 4.50, halfway between +4 and +5, but is displayed simply as +4.
Assuming that his form do not change, after 2 weeks his tsi1 is 19 130 (see B) so he is 2.05 weeks away from recovery.
Finally (see C) Vincent is bruised (but ready to play a friendly match) with tsi1 21 230 corresponding to 0.95 weeks to recovery.

Injury types

As of today, we’ve added extra detail when it comes to injuries in Hattrick. Injuries are no longer general, they happen to a specific part of the body, and this will be reflected by events and also in the player history.
Like in real life, some injuries are more common that others. Mostly you can manage your team as before, but be a little extra careful when fielding a bruised player! If he gets injured again, it is much more likely that the new injury happens in the same spot as the previous one, and if it does, this new injury will be slightly more serious than it would otherwise have been.
In addition to this, we have made injury estimates more accurate. From now on, the estimated recovery time you see on your player will take into account the player’s age as well as your current medical staff.
