ÆSIR Football Club is a Uruguayan team from the region of Paysandú, currently playing in the III.13 league. It is managed by Pitufopoulos since 13-Aug-2009.

Etymology

The name "ÆSIR" is inspired in the Scandinavian Mythology, being the Æsir the main pantheon of Gods (which included Odin, Thor, etc). The second pantheon of Gods comprises the Vanir (which comes to be the name of the youth team of ÆSIR F.C.).

Youth team: Vanir FC

Almost since its birth, ÆSIR F.C. has had its youth team. As explained above, Vanir is inspired in the second most important clan of Gods in the Scandinavian Mythology. The youth team seems to be accurately affected by this, because these Gods were associated with fertility, wisdom and the ability to see the future.

Vanir FC plays its home games in "Ragnarök Center". "Ragnarök" meant "Apocalypse".
