Suriname Season 47, or Global Season 72, was the twelveth season in which Rode Ster Paramaribo participated, and the ninenth after the restart. They played in League II.4.

Season Synopsis

Stadium

The Rode Ster Paramaribo stadium, the Karl Marx Arena, had 92.500 seats at the beginning of the season and was not enlarged.

Shirts

Rode Ster Paramaribo used for second time the third of a six-season series of special edition shirts that commemorate shirts worn by the favourite teams of manager Lunacharsky, each in a setting referring to a special period in those teams' history. Teams that will be featured are Olympic Charleroi, AFC Wimbledon, FC Sankt Pauli, RWD Molenbeek, Antwerp FC and Liverpool FC. In season 72, they used the shirts RWDM used in the season 1974-75; the year they won their only title in the Belgian first division.

Season Summary

The team had the ambition to remain in second division, preferably without having to play the playoffs. The team continued to focus on training Suriname U20 star Walter Faverey. passing training was continued, and will be replaced by scoring at the end of the season.

In the Suriname Cup, Rode Ster Paramaribo was eliminated in the third round against zwiggy. They continued in the Sapphire Cup, but were eliminated in the third round against Pirat Kannoniers.

In the competition, the team had a very difficult start, with three consecutive losses, two draws, and another loss in the first 6 games of the season. The 7th game was their only win of the first half of the season. Three more wins in the second part of the season where enough to win a sixth position in the competition. Rode Ster won the relegation play-off against YBB on holiday with a 4-0 margin, therefore remaining in second division.
