Suriname Season 40, or Global Season 65, was the fifth season in which Rode Ster Paramaribo participated, and the third after the restart. They played in League III.3.

Season Synopsis[edit]

Stadium[edit]

The Rode Ster Paramaribo stadium, the Karl Marx Arena, had 42.000 seats at the beginning of the season. It was enlarged to 51.250 at the end of the season.

Season Summary[edit]

The team had no specific ambitions in this season, since it was just recreated two seasons earlier. The team focused on training future star Walter Faverey.

In the Suriname Cup, the team reached the second round, after which they were eliminated by Groninger Boys FC. Afterwards, Rode Ster Paramaribo played another two rounds in the Ruby Cup, in which they were eliminated by FC VUFFER.

In the competition, Rode Ster evolved well. They managed to evolve in third and second position for most of the season, despite an unexpected defeat against Wayamboweg Arawak's on matchday 4. The team then went on to lose against relegator Royal Sporting Club Totness, but suprisingly managed to get a 1-1 draw in the return game at the Karl Marx Arena. A victory at home against Wayamboweg Arawak's on matchday 11 created a turn in the tables, and ensured a second position for Rode Ster Paramaribo in the league for the first time in their history, with a record 34 points.
