Suriname Season 4, or Global Season 69, was the ninth season in which Rode Ster Paramaribo participated, and the fifth after the restart. They played in the Hoofdklasse, the first division in Suriname.

Season Synopsis[edit]

Stadium[edit]

The Rode Ster Paramaribo stadium, the Karl Marx Arena, had 77.750 seats at the beginning of the season and was not enlarged.

Shirts[edit]

Rode Ster Paramaribo continued this season with the six of a six-season series of special edition shirts that commemorate shirts worn by the favourite teams of manager Lunacharsky, each in a setting referring to a special period in those teams' history. Teams that will be featured are Olympic Charleroi, AFC Wimbledon, FC Sankt Pauli, RWD Molenbeek, Antwerp FC and Liverpool FC. In season 69, they used the shirts AFC Wimbledon used in the season 2015-16; the year of their promotion to League One after winning playoffs.

Trainer[edit]

Season 69 was the first season for trainer Lokman Bekdemir, who replaced Noah Wessel.

Season Summary[edit]

The team no ambitions at all in the Hoofdklasse, realising they would have to fight strongly to have a chance to avoid relegation. The team continued to focus on training Suriname U20 star Walter Faverey. Scoring training was continued and would be replaced in mid-season by passing.

In the Suriname Cup, Rode Ster managed to reach the third round, where they lost against Green Waves Experience. They continued in the Sapphire Cup, but lost, again against Green Waves Experience in the second round.

In the competition it became already clear on the second match day the team would finish last. The crucial games against Ouwe United and Pescara Calcio were both lost, destroying RSP's only chance on remaining in the Hoofdklasse. Their only victory in the competition was against FC Borgoe 82 on Matchday 9, all the other matches were lost.
