2-7-1

The 2-7-1 is a very midfield-heavy formation, using at least 5 inner midfielders. It causes a loss of training for regular club teams because you may not field more than three inner midfielders. National teams sometimes use this formation to gain a superior midfield, but it will certainly cause confusion.

The 2-7-1 is perhaps best known as the formation Canada played against Sweden in the final of WC III. Canada lost 4-0 on that day, but were only down 1-0 at the half.
