I would like to announce my candidacy for the U20 position. I believe that I’m the right person for the job. I have been playing Hattrick since July of 2002 and have won four series titles in that time. I am beginning my second stint in division III this season, and have been very active with the national teams in the past.
I’m a Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at West Virginia University and was recently inducted into Sigma Gamma Tau, the Aerospace Honor Society. I will graduate in two years. I am an active member in both MACHO and the BDF. I am also a member of the US Training federation. I thank everyone in advance for their questions and their support if they so choose. |

Hello, I’m Spooner. Some of you may remember when I ran in two previous elections as spooner2222. The first election, for U20 trainer, I vowed to lose every match we played, as to invoke pity on our team. As it turned out, only 11 Hattrickers in the USA were interested in pity.
For my second attempt at campaigning I changed directions completely, instead promising to win. Although people appreciated my newfound resolve for victory to be refreshing, to the tune of 38 votes, people complained that most of my methods were technically “cheating,” or “not possible within the design of the game.” Forgive me for thinking we could fix the goals-allowed problem at its root by removing our goal from the field. It made sense to me at the time, but with maturity comes knowledge, as they say. So for this election I promise to concentrate only on the specifics of the game, namely what formations to play. Rather, not so much formations as just one formation: 4-3-3. It is often a misguided attempt by Hattrick users to use a formation other than 4-3-3. Why? It is not certain. 4-3-3 formation offers the best chance for victory, a fact that is rarely contested by any credible Hattrick expert. It would be foolish for anyone to ever play a formation other than the 4-3-3. I always play it in any game I take seriously. Any time I don’t play the 4-3-3, it’s because I don’t feel like winning. Perhaps I’ve made a large wager on the opposing team! Rest assured, if I’m playing you and I’m not running the 4-3-3: I’m rooting for your team. However, I would be much less apathetic for the U20 team. I would, obviously, want to win every game, and therefore in every game I would play the 4-3-3. And if that doesn’t convince you, 433 is a prime number. It just has to be good. Vote 4-3-3, vote Spooner. |

I'd like to announce my candidacy for the U20 position.
For those of you that don't know me, I've been involved in Hattrick for a little over 3 years. I've been actively involved in the past with the U20 team, both in player scouting and in general opposition scouting. I think I have a very good understanding of the position and what it takes to be successful. If you have any questions, want to offer support, want to hurl insults my way, or ask my opinion on my favorite flavor of gumball, there'll be a thread up shortly for just that purpose. I'd like to announce my candidacy for the US U20 coach position.
Why? Why not? I think through our counties HT recent history it's been shown that simply being in Div III (or whatever) doesn't guarentee jack squat at the national level. I feel that with my knowledge of HT, the input from others through my Feds and the offsite forums and my penchance for being unpredictable that I can lead the US to a medal at the very least. I feel that should be our goal reagardles of who is coach. Any questions can go in my election thread. Serious questions will get serious answers, joke questions will get joke answers so there's something for everyone :D |

I would like to announce that I am running for the post of USA U-20 Manager.
And in my very next breath, announce that I do not have the time right now to run the U20 team if I were to be elected. Please do not vote for me, but please include me in your questioning, and lend an ear to my ideas for the team. I am running (as I did last time) for the purpose of preparing myself for a future election. I am not the best candidate right now, but by going through this process, I hope to learn more about what it takes to run our Nation's team, and perhaps be ready in a couple of seasons to seriously make a run at the post. My credentials? So far, not impressive enough. I have been playing this wonderful game since 11/26/2002, though it took me quite some time to realize the importance of training. I have spent a total of three seasons in IV, having just been relegated this offseason back to V. I am currently the scout for our 20-year old midfielders and keepers, and will be tracking the new crop of 17-year old defenders, since that is what I currently train. I have trained playmaking and defense mostly, and due to the latter, am fairly well-schooled in tactics, having to plot out each match carefully. Please vote in this election for the candidate that you think can help our country reach new heights. And please help me work toward becoming a more legitimate candidate. |

Vote HFL-Dribbeltje!
About me! I'm 15 years old and my real name is Tom Damoiseaux, i live in the Netherlands.. I play 3 years Hattrick a nice mix for this country i think so! Why me? USA is a big country with a lot of good players, i think that we can be the new U-20 champion, a lot of good players, with a good coach is a very good mix.. A good thing for the USA team is work to gether, a good band of the coach of the NT-team and the U-20 team is not to much i think! Scouts: A U-20 team must have scouts so if people want to scouting for the U-20, if i were Coach of the U-20 you can always give me player id's and i look of this a the right players, some people can send me a pm if she want to be a 'scout'. Tactics: All Out Offensive like's me a really good tactick for the USA in a 3-5-2 formation or in a 3-4-3 formation.. I play some friendly in a 5-3-2 formation for the time's if we play between a team with a very strong CM.. My Vision: To made the quarter finale's from the net U-20 championschip en this is surely feasable!
So, Vote On HFL-Dribbeltje with the U-20 Elections! |

It's been a while since I've run. And I know I'm throwing my hat in the ring a little late.
But seeing as nobody remotely humorous is running, I'm throwing my hat in the ring. I have a pretty good team. We're only in IV, but we've been near the top of a competitive one for the last few seasons, and I've shown I can beat better teams with an 11 round Cup run last season. I like to think I have a better grasp of tactics than most, because of extended keeper training and the ability to mix things up.
Hence, from here on out, I will only speak in song titles and popular song lyrics. I, as the U20 Coach, will tumble for you, America. |

Tidings I bring to you, o people of hattrick.
These other candidates have disgraced our sacred throne and must be cast out. It is time for a new shining beacon as you wander through the desert. I will be this burning bush. Why vote Jesus_McAwesome? Because "I press on toward the goal to win the supreme and heavenly prize to which God is calling us upward." (Philippians 3:14) |

I found myself on the top 10 again today so I decided i'd run this season.
I've been playing HT for a little over four rl years and have been as high as D.II in my time (though I wasn't there long). I currently reside in III.10 for the second season in a row. I'm going to open a thread if you have any questions, or feel free to HT mail me. |

Because I am in the top 10 in voting, I feel compelled to write a campaign speech.
I've seen many candidates this season, and many different approaches to running the U20 team. I see a lot of people talking about formations and keeping up with prospects and crap like that. That's not the way to medal, USA. I"m a hater. Hating is what I do. When I have hate in my heart, I let it out. And I guarantee you, I will have hate in my heart about whatever country we are playing. Take, for instance, the Poles. Did you know that they made a submarine with a screen door? I read about it on a very reputable interweb site just today. Do you think I would let the Poles beat us? I will go Lorena Bobbitt on the Poles. Except, instead of chopping off their manhood, I will score 50 goals on them, and also I'm not a woman. The Romanians are also big on the U20 stage. I don't know anything about Romania except that they are in Europe and so they probably wear wooden shoes and like garlic and smelly cheese. There's no way that I will let a bunch of wooden-shoe wearing smelly cheese eaters defeat us in the World Cup. I will be the Liza Minelli to their David Gest, and by that I mean that I will get drunk and then slap them around like rented mules. I just noticed that I would also be a woman in that analogy, too, but don't worry, I'm all man, baby. I will run through the U20 qualifiers into the medal round like a column of Panzer tanks up the Champs de Elysses. Then I will make fun of our competition. And I will use the U20 gameday and sales threads to make fun of you, the USA user. The cornerstone of my U20 candidacy, however, is to convince Kelly Pickler to do a Playboy pictorial with Katherine McPhee. I promise you, the USA users, that I will use the authority of my position as U20 coach to accomplish this goal. Please drop by my candidacy thread so I can make fun of you while refusing to answer your questions. |

Is amerikanaren the right man for the job?
Hello all americans! I am from Norway, we won the U20 World Cup, and i want the american team to get a trophy on their medal shelf. I am Ruben and I am an exchange student in the US (WAshington), so I don't think my english will be a problem, and if i get elected as an U20 coach I will bring torgor as my assistant coach. I am spendiong a lot of time on hattrick, so I know i won't have limited time on the computer. I have been coaching Fresvik i Sogn for 2 years now, and I have got 3 gold medals, and this season I am giving everything I got on the cup. I started training defense when I started hattrick, but I did some beginner mistakes, (etc. bought inadequate defenders, inadequate coach), but after a while, when my players got better, my team got better. Now I am still training defense, but in the middle of this season I will start training playmakers, since that is a very important part of the team. If you look at my team you will see that I have a pretty bad midfield and scorers, because my league suck so bad that I don't need to waste my money that I have in the bank. i think I can make some good hattrick history for the american national team, playing 3-5-2, or 3-4-3 with offensive defenders. I think that will make the team very good, I am also not afraid of playing 2-5-3 or orher unusual formations. It will be exciting and very fun to bring Americas U20-team to success. I have a 3-4 games were I canm show you my tactical skills against better teams, were I won or got a tie, even when I played "play it cool". It's all up to you who you want to elect as an new U20 coach, and if you think I can be a good coach for your u20 team, ELECT me. thank you |
Remarks
- This election was considered one of the ugliest elections in USA history. Most conference users attributed the excess of flaming and negative posting to the campaign of chubbj, who ran a campaign on the platform of being an "outsider" and not a member of the current administration.
- Before flaming took over the conferences late in the election week, the campaign was filled with all types of humor; a record of five non-serious campaigns were waged, the most successful of which was that of Jesus_McAwesome, who had a campaign thread in which he answered only in Biblical quotes. In addition to Jesus_McAwesome, these candidates were prominent comedians during the election:
- joyosects, who answered questions by using only song titles and lyrics from popular songs
- SpoonerPSU, who ran on the platform of "all 4-3-3 all the time"
- benmor78, who answered all questions directed toward him with cheeky insults
- patriot_conan, who promised to use all his own players on his lineup
- VGT42, a relatively unknown newbie who inadvertently entertained many with an almost unreadable post in all capital letters demanding votes, though he never posted a speech in the election thread.
