KSG Borbetomagus/Season 44

Summary[edit]

In season 44, the KSGB managed to establish themselves in league IX.58. The start of the season wasn't as spectacular as it was the season before; however, despite not-so-clear victories like the 2-4 over Torres (which, like other results, were said to be rooted in a general goalgetting problem of the team), points kept on coming in, keeping the team away from relegation constantly. On the other hand, rather close losses against better teams, including a 2-1 victory over Meduza in round 7, proved the team to be more competitive than last season.

KSGB also tried to improve their financial situation. The milestone for this decision is the sale of Radu Mitrea, who, especially in the early and late phase of season 43 and in season 44 had been an important part of the team. Another important player, defender Noa Pettersson, was sold shortly after the last competitive match. The money was reinvested to completely substitute the goalkeepers (Wolfsen had come into age and was never planned long with), to strengthen the forwarder squad and to make the defense a bit younger.

Speaking of player investments, season 44 also marked the first season were remarkable players were drawn from KSGB's youth squad, the JSG Vangionen. The average age of the team shortly before season 45 dropped to a mere 21, showing that the team management further relayed on potential as their main investment.
