Bio
Pálmi Helgason was a central defender who occasionally played wingback, midfield, and forward for FC Sugar Tits. He was an original member of the team.
Blessed with the head of an anvil, Pálmi football career began when, as an archaeology student at the University of Iceland, he and his best friend, Hólmgeir Unnarsson, learned that tryouts were being held in Dalvik for the startup squad of FC Sugar Tits. Reasoning that they would look good as a pair of Tits, both friends tried out for the team and, to their mutual surprise, both made the team. Pálmi played a significant number of minutes in the team's first two seasons, but was used more sparingly in Season 41 and has not appeared in a competitive match since that season.
Pálmi's first appearance in an FC Sugar Tits uniform was during a Round 1 Cup match in Season 39 at Happy Valley Arena (the Tits' home arena before completion of The Valley of the Gods) against Bluemoon F.C. on May 15, 2013 (1/39). His 11 goals led the team in scoring in Season 39, but he lost his touch and only scored once more afterward, despite playing another 16 matches.
Pálmi Helgason scored 12 career goals in 3 professional seasons. He retired midway through Season 42 at age 32. At the time of his retirement, Pálmi ranked 6th among FC Sugar Tits players in competitive matches played, 7th in competitive goals scored, and 9th in competitive minutes played. After leaving the Tits, Pálmi vowed to spend time with his family and fly kites over Reykjavík. He was last seen coaching his old junior school team. His glory days are clearly over.
