The PU (an acronym for Player Union) is a mysterious organisation located somewhere in the Hattrick world.

The PU tasks are: negotiate with the powerful HFA on players contracts and contract clauses; oversee the maintenance of adequate wage standards; prevent players from being treated as mere assets exploited for quick profits.

Announcements

HT PU was first mentioned in the Club Owners Federations (COF) press announcement of July 2007. Up until now 4 main announcements about the PU has been issued. Hattrick announces Lower salaries next season 12/09/2012 The Players Union and the Club Owners Federation have reached a new salary agreement, which will kick in next season. In general this agreement means players with skills from brilliant and up will recieve around 20% lower salaries compared to current rates. On lower levels the discount will be smaller (eg solid around 5%, excellent around 10%, formidable around 15%.) These new rates will be applied from next season, and will take effect when the player has their next birthday. The reasoning is that something is needed for the global Hattrick economy where we are still experiencing deflation. The ticket increase applied from the start of this season just gone has not stopped prices from falling, so we need to take further action to stop this deflation and reach a situation where prices are healthier. In addition to this, there will be somewhat bigger skill drops for players above titanic next season. And as the skill drops are bigger they in turn make training on skills over titanic slower (the training effect is still the same, but the bigger skill drops make the net effect smaller). The reason for this change is also economical. The main reason for the deflation is increased salaries due to training. Many people are still training players already on very high levels (mostly' because they can'), which in turn drains money from the system. With these actions we make that negative effect smaller, which will have a positive impact on the economy for the seasons to come. Hattrick announces Transfer Market regulations 18/12/2008 The Hattrick Football Association and the Player Union have signed a contract clause that regulates how often a player can be put on the transfer list. From next season on, you can't transfer list a player more times than he has played games for your team. This means a player must've played at least one game for your team to be listed at all. And if he's not sold and you want to list him a second time, he must've played at least 2 games etc. Homegrown players, youth pulls for example, can be listed at all times though. - We have to remember that it's football we're playing and that it's people we're dealing with, HFA and PU said in a joint statement. While we want every manager to be able to make a buck on the transfer, we can't accept that players are being treated as simple goods in search for quick profits any more. Hattrick announces End of season salary reduction 31/01/2008 The Player Union and the Club Owners Federation (COF) have reached an agreement about the terms, and the future, of the salary reduction in the end of season. Both parties were insecure about when and how the salary reduction would be carried out, but also for how many seasons more the reduction would be in play. The union argued that players (and their wives) have complained about their miserable lives without shopping and vacation trips at the end of last season, though their heavy argument was the Central Bank's statement saying the reduction isn't needed for the global economy anymore. This new agreement means clubs will get the salary reduction this season. Clubs will not pay any player salaries in the last economical update of this season (the weekend before the first cup round). But this is also the last salary reduction, from next season on clubs will pay full salaries all weeks. Hattrick announces Club owners threatens to cancel next season 06/07/2007 The Club Owners Federation (COF) may take drastic action if the Hattrick Football Association (HFA) and the Player Union does not respond to their demands. - Many clubs are losing money today and the situation is getting worse. We can´t accept this anymore, the chairman of the COF said today. According to the COF, the current salary deal with the Player Union is too generous and should be renegotiated. They also point their finger at the HFA on the need to increase ticket and sponsor income. - We have raised these issues many times, but the HFA and the Union haven’t listened to us. This time we will not back down so easily, the chairman continued. The HFA released a written statement, confirming negotiations will start this weekend. “A solution can be found, but we must not lose the long term perspective. Money is one thing, but we also need to motivate all smart managers to continue doing what they are doing right.”"
