Prince Roy Cup V was the fifth edition of the Prince Roy Cup, a friendly competition in the Sealand federation for teams that were not able to compete in the Sealand Cup. The tournament was held in (Dutch) season 62, with the final being played at Upside Down Arena on 29 January 2020. Appy United defeated former winner RKTVV with 3–0 to win their first Prince Roy Cup. Title holders De Snelle Jelles did not compete.

Participating teams

Eight teams were not able to compete in Sealand Cup XLIV because they were still active in a cup competition. Two of them (Ad Maiorem Mei Gloriam and Ferrari) could not participate in the Prince Roy Cup as they were eliminated after the Prince Roy Cup had begun. Two others (Fc Ajax Sneek 08 and Real Lutjegast) elected not to compete in the Prince Roy Cup. Title holders De Snelle Jelles would have been eligible as they were not able to compete in Sealand Cup XLIV, but they did not enter.

RKTVV had participated in all four previous editions of the Prince Roy Cup. Two teams participated for the first time.

Seeding

The four participants played in a single group, so only the match order and home advantage for each match was drawn. The table below lists the participants based on their result in Prince Roy Cup IV and their Sealand-Coefficient (which was determined by results in all previous Sealand Cups). This ranking would have been used to seed the teams if they were to be divided into multiple groups.

Group Stage

The Group Stage of the fifth Prince Roy Cup ran from 8 to 29 January 2020.

Format

The four participating teams played each other in a single round-robin format, playing the other teams once (one match at home, one match away and one match at a neutral venue). Each team earned 3 points for a win in regular time, 2 points for a win after extra time or after a penalty shoot-out, 1 point for a loss after extra time or after a penalty shoot-out and 0 points for a loss in regular time. For goal difference purposes, winning after extra time or after a penalty shoot-out counted as a single golden goal. This point system is comparable to the system used by the (real-life) IIHF for international ice hockey matches.

The schedule was fixed to guarantee that the last group match would matter for first and/or second place in the group. Because of this, the two winners of the first round were scheduled to play each other during the second week.

The two highest-ranked teams would play against each other in the final. The third and fourth-ranked teams would compete against each other for bronze in the small final. If teams were level on points, the head-to-head results would determine which team was ranked higher.

Finals Stage

The next stage of the tournament was the Finals Stage. All teams qualified for this stage, with the match they qualified for depending on the position that they finished the group stage in.

Draw

The highest-ranked team would play the second-highest-ranked team in the final and the third- and fourth-highest ranked teams would play each other in the small final.

The matches were played at a neutral venue. Upside Down Arena , the home stadium of De Rodenburcht (reigning Hattrick Masters champion, as well as winners of the Eredivisie and KNVB Beker that season), was selected as host of the final.
