Sealand Cup V was the fifth edition of the Sealand Cup, the friendly competition of the Sealand federation and was held in (Dutch) season 17. The final was held at Tarakoni's Power Box on 29 March 2006, where Naarden defeated Winmau Masters 7–1. Defending champions Cape Holland did not compete in the tournament.

Participating teams

17 teams participated in Sealand Cup V, including two previous champions. Seven teams made their début. Not all teams participated from the first round on and some teams played only one match, with other match(es) not arranged or forfeited. Punthorst United did not play any match in the end. Herefore, they are not included in this list with participating teams.

Group Stage

The Group Stage of the fifth Sealand Cup ran from 22 February to 8 March 2006.

Format

All teams played together in a modified Swiss-system group, playing three matches. Teams that did not compete during the first round could enter the competition for the second round. Matches were played until there was a winner, with 3 points being awarded for a win and 0 points for a loss. One match, however, finished in a draw with no extra time being played. Both teams were awarded 1 point. All goals (including goals scored in extra time or during a penalty shoot-out) were taken in contention for the goal difference. The eight highest-ranked teams after three rounds advanced to the quarterfinals.

  • Thirteen teams participated in this round. Because there was an odd numer of participants, De Houtense Boys did not play.

Round Two

  • Five teams entered the competition in this round (De Zaktrappers, Deux ex machina, Magnus Metus, Punthorst United and Tijny Devils). The four highest-ranked teams after Round One were scheduled against four of the new teams, while the other two winning teams (Winmau Masters and EFC Gelderland) were scheduled to play against each other. The six teams that lost their first match were scheduled to play against each other and De Houtense Boys was scheduled to play aginst the remaining new team. The match between Team GeenStijl and Tijny Devils was, however, cancelled.

Round Three

  • All eighteen teams classified after the second round were scheduled to play in round three. The highest-ranked team (Naarden) was scheduled to play the second-ranked team (Dashit Kabomb), the third- and fourth-ranked teams were scheduled to play each other, et cetera. The match between FC Nieles and Magnus Metus was, however, cancelled. Punthorst United was awarded a 6–0 victory, since they arranged another friendly match which was won with that margin.

Knockout Stage

The next stage of the tournament was the Knockout Stage. The eight highest-ranked teams from the group stage (ranked by number of points, goal difference and goals scored) qualified for this stage.

Draw

The teams were seeded first to eighth, based on their result in the group stage. The highest seed would face the lowest seed. It is unclear if the matches in the semi-finals were drawn or pre-determined. The final was played at Tarakoni's Power Box, the stadium of Dashit Kabomb (champion of the first edition).
