Career

Early career at Kickers Ratzeburg

Helmut Hamborn was very sportive from a very young age. In his hometown of Ratzeburg, surrounded by lakes, he started to row a very young age, and later he started athletics. As his local team was looking for a quick runner on the wing of their youth team, the young Helmut was allowed in a try-out. It was immediately a success, and Helmut Hamborn started to play in the youth team. He joined the first team in early season 63, but only played in friendlies during this period.

Career at Red Star Tunis

Helmut was transferred to the newly founded Red Star Tunis team at the end of Season 63. He was a regular player in first team on the wing from the very beginning.
