North Macedonia (Северна Македонија, Severna Makedonija in local language) is a Eastern European country. It was the 82nd nation to join the Hattrick World.

Republic of North Macedonia constitutes approximately the northern third of the larger geographical region of Macedonia. The capital and largest city, Skopje, is home to roughly a quarter of the country's 2.06 million inhabitants.
The country gained its independence in 1991 as one of the successor states of Yugoslavia. As a result of a dispute with Greece over the name "Macedonia", it was admitted as a member of the United Nations in 1993 under the description the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, abbreviated as FYR Macedonia or FYROM. Only 25 years later, Macedonia and Greece resolved the conflict with an agreement: the country was renamed to Severna Makedonija in February 2019.

History

• North Macedonian league exists since June 2004. It is one of the six new leagues for global season 23.
• The country name was changed from FYR Macedonia to Makedonija at the beginning of local season 12. Then was changed again in 2019 to the current name of Severna Makedonija.
• North Macedonia has not hosted any World Cup yet.
