Lokomotiv Veltem Back-on-Track hosted Daring Brugge Elko & Cobi on 1 November 2020 as part of the 6th matchday of season 76 of the V.128 series. The home team came into the match with a perfect 15 out of 15 points in the league, but also holding the UCWC-title, meaning they wanted to hold on to that title as well, succeeding relatively easily in a simple 2-0 win, despite going down to ten men with a few minutes to spare.

Match report

It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 52611 that came out to The Railroads. Evtim Mihaylov was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Marco Koeberer and Jonás Ximénez.

For some players the sunny weather was bad news. It made Powerful and Quick players a bit sluggish. For Technical players, it was instead an advantage, allowing them to shine on the pitch.

Back-on-Track's starters: Genkinger - Rebelo, Bande - Malkusz, Van Keymeulen, Van Lede, Pitzalis, Ylikylä - Jahnick, Paşcan, Kazishvili. The following players took the field for E&C: Amikam - Bin-Nun, Farkasházy, Gościk - Bảo Trọng, John, Sehran, Aristodimos, Archi - Menéndez, Hanini.

Lokomotiv Veltem Back-on-Track fielded a 2-5-3 lineup. For Daring Brugge Elko & Cobi, the formation of choice was 3-5-2. Back-on-Track tried to focus their attacks down the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+2) level with that tactic. E&C clearly preferred using their world class ability to attack in the middle.

First half

Back-on-Track created a good opportunity to score 17 minutes into the match when George-Daniel Paşcan's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball. Shako Kazishvili was in no condition to play on. He left the field limping after 31 minutes, with his right thigh bandaged. This gave Ove Guðjónsson a chance to take to the field instead. Back-on-Track's George-Daniel Paşcan was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 31 minutes. After 32 minutes, following yet another great corner, Menelaos Aristodimos's flick on at the near post reached Szabolcs Farkasházy, who was just wide with his snapshot - the ball went out for a goal kick. After 33 minutes of play, Herberto Rebelo gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Back-on-Track's Daniel Jahnick increasing the lead to 2 - 0. Back-on-Track's Daniel Jahnick saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 36 minutes. Halftime score was 2 - 0. Back-on-Track enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 58 percent of possession.

Second half

It was a fine day for Nguyễn Bảo Trọng on his wing, his cross pass to Menelaos Aristodimos was especially delicate 79 minutes into the game, but the keeper saved. Back-on-Track had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. George-Daniel Paşcan could have increased the lead after 81 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. E&C kept trying to force their way through on the right side and Aureliano Menéndez got his chance after 84 minutes, but the home side's defence held their position and stopped the attack. When George-Daniel Paşcan made yet another studs-first tackle after 87 minutes, the referee was obliged to book the Back-on-Track player for the second time, sending him off the pitch. Back-on-Track were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. After 88 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by Helmut Van Keymeulen might have resulted in another goal for Back-on-Track. However, Yeshayahu Amikam made a spectacular save. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for E&C, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. The crowd roared its approval when Antoine Genkinger somehow managed to block a shot which seemed to be a certain goal by E&C's Aureliano Menéndez 89 minutes into the game, following a good move through the middle. Back-on-Track mounted an inspired counterattack down the right wing after 89 minutes, but Helmut Van Keymeulen was unable to convert from short range. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 2 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 2 - 0. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Back-on-Track, with 58 percent of the ball.

Post match

Daniel Jahnick performed admirably for Back-on-Track. However, Herberto Rebelo made a disastrous appearance. E&C's best player was Menelaos Aristodimos. Nguyễn Bảo Trọng turned in a dismal performance, however.
