Switzerland (German: Schweiz, French: Suisse, Italian: Svizzera, Romansh: Svizra, as spelled in 4 national languages, though the Latin name, Confoederatio Helvetica – shortened to "Helvetia" – is officially used instead) is a Central European country. It was the 40th nation to join the Hattrick World.
The Swiss Confederation is a federal republic composed of 26 cantons, with federal authorities based in Bern while the largest cities are Zürich, Geneva and Basel. The Alps occupy the greater part of the territory, an area of 41 285 km2 (15 940 sq mi) with a population of approximately 8.5 million. The Federal Charter of 1291 is considered the founding document of Switzerland. Swiss independence from the Holy Roman Empire was formally recognized in the Peace of Westphalia in 1648.
Switzerland is the birthplace of the Red Cross, and home of international organisations, such as FIFA.
History
- Swiss league has existed since October 2001. It is one of the six new countries created before (global season 14).
- On the first of January 2002, The country was restarted after an error. Due to the error, what appears as season 2 is in fact season 1, season 3 is season 2, etc. For example, the displayed season 36 was the 35th season played (note that the strange data behave is not corrected in the National trophies table below).
- Switzerland has not hosted any World Cup yet.
Division Growth
The number of users grew quickly and by 2007 there were more than 51 000 Swiss managers in 10 divisions. The league started narrowing slowly in 2008-2009 at 40 000 active users. In 2011-2012 the users were 27 500 on 8 levels, and became 12 000 in 2019 on 7 levels.
