Prince Roy Cup IX was the ninth edition of the Prince Roy Cup, a friendly competition in the Sealand federation for teams that were not able to compete in the Sealand Cup. The tournament was held in (Dutch) season 75, with the final being played at de Tudorel Udreskoe Arena on 31 January 2024, where Appy United defeated title holders Royal Sun And Evil FC with 4–0. It was the second time Appy United won the Prince Roy Cup.

Participating teams

Six teams were not able to compete in Sealand Cup LVII because they were still active in a cup competition. Kennemerland 6 was the only participant that had never competed in the Prince Roy Cup before, as well as the only participant that was not a former Sealand Cup champion.

Seeding

The draw for the group stage was held in Heeze on 3 January 2024.

Teams were de facto seeded in two pots, based on their appereance in Prince Roy Cup VIII and their Sealand-Coefficient (which was determined by results in all previous Sealand Cups).

• Each group had to include at least one team from each pot, to prevent that the teams from Prince Roy Cup VIII would all end up together again.
• Each group had to include at least one team from the province of South Holland.

Group Stage

The Group Stage of the ninth Prince Roy Cup ran from 10 to 24 January 2024.

Format

The teams in each group played each other in a single round-robin format, playing the other teams in the group once (one match at home and one match away). Each team earned 3 points for a win in regular time, 2 points for a win after extra time or after a penalty shoot-out, 1 point for a loss after extra time or after a penalty shoot-out and 0 points for a loss in regular time. A potential penalty shoot-out did not cound towards the goal difference.

Because of the odd number of teams in each group, all teams had one bye week in the group stage. The schedule was fixed to guarantee that the last group match would matter for first place in the group. Because of this, the winners of the first week would automatically receive their bye during the second week. The teams that qualified for the Sealand Super Cup 2024 (FC Atse and Royal Sun And Evil FC) were automatically scheduled to play during the first week. This was to increase the chance that they could play their Sealand Super Cup match during their bye week (since their scheduled SSC-opponents were still active in Sealand Cup LVII).

The group winners qualified for the final, the runners-up played for bronze and the third-placed teams competed for fifth place. If two teams were level on points, the winner of the head-to-head match would have been ranked higher.

Finals Stage

The next stage of the tournament was the Finals Stage. All teams qualified for this stage, with the match they qualified for depending on the position that they finished the group stage in.

Draw

The teams were seeded first to sixth, based on their result in the group stage. The highest-seeded team would play the second-highest-seeded team in the final, the third- and fourth-highest seeded teams would play each other in the small final and the fifth- and sixth-highest seeded teams would play in the fifth place match.

The matches were played at a neutral venue. de Tudorel Udreskoe Arena, the home stadium of FC Sammie de Cavia (whose manager had the original idea for this competition), was selected as host of the final.
