Ulster or Northern Ireland has no official language (English is de facto language) and is also known as Tuaisceart Éireann in Irish, Norlin Airlann in Ulster-Scots. It joined the Hattrick World as the 78th country, even if is variously described as a country, province or region which is part of the United Kingdom.
History
- The Northern Irish league has existed since February 2004 (global season 23).
- It granted status as a separate Hattrick nation after a concerted effort by Northern Irish users in other leagues, specifically Ireland, Scotland and England, who wished to locate their clubs in their homeland.
- Northern Irish users playing in other leagues set up federations and petitions on global forum for their own country.
- After an initial growth, the number of active teams stabilized at around 200, though users had climbed upwards sometimes (with a maximum of 255 active users in May 2009).
- Northern Ireland has not hosted World Cup yet.
