Suriname (sometimes spelled Surinam in Dutch) is an American country. It was the 96th nation to join the Hattrick World.

The Republic of Suriname is the smallest sovereign state in South America with a population of half a milion, most of whom live in and around the capital and largest city, Paramaribo.
Suriname was part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and even if the country left the Netherlands to become an independent state on 25 November 1975, Dutch remains the official language (nonetheless Sranan Tongo, an English-based creole language, is a widely used).
