Xavier Meerbergen (Oostakker, Belgium) was a Belgian football player who actualy plays for SVV Red Star Gent. He was a Wingback.
Early career
Meerbergen joined SVV Red Star Gent at its foundation in August 2009. He made it to the first team in the first Season (39) in which RSG competed.
Career at SVV Red Star Gent
Xavier Meerbergen was a key player for the wing defence of the team. However, with the arrival of players like Floris-Jan Schoep en Ray de Vreede, he became more of a reserve player at RSG. He left the team on December 6th 2009.
Personal Life
Meerbergen is considered to be a player that sometimes provokes controversy around his person. He is a Don Juan who is often to be found in Nightclubs in Ghent, much to dismay of the Staff at Red Star Gent.
After his football career, Xavier opened a Belgian Fries stall near the stadium, together with former player Joris Gason.
