Belgian Season 55, or Global Season 68, was the twenty-seventh full season in which Red Star Brussels participated, and the sixth after the new start of the team. They played in League V.176.
Season Synopsis
Stadium
The Red Star Brussels stadium, the Leon Trotski Arena, was not enlarged, and continued to hold 53.500 places.
Change of shirts
Red Star Brussels continued with the third of a six-season series of special edition shirts that commemorate shirts worn by the favourite teams of manager Lunacharsky, each in a setting referring to a special period in those teams' history. In season 68, they used the shirts FC Sankt Pauli used in the season 2010-11; the year they last played in the Bundesliga.
Season Summary
The ambition of the team was to remain in fifth division, preferably without having to play a qualification game. The team however quickly fell back again to the fifth and sixth place that would have them play another playoff to remain in fifth division.
In the Belgium Cup, no specific ambitions were formulated. The team reached the second round in the Cup, where they were eliminated by depal boys. They continued to the fourth round of the Ruby Cup.
Homegrown team
During the previous season, the team officially adopted the homegrown team strategy: in the future, all players in the team will come from our own youth accommodation. The first bulk of the team, forwards finished training beginning this season: Tim Grauls, Frederick Eeckman and Divock Origi will be the future attackers of the team. Afterwards, the team trained set pieces for two weeks, and then switched to passing to train the attackers and the bulk of midfielders.
