Belgian Season 53, or Global Season 66, was the twentyfifth full season in which Red Star Brussels participated, and the fourth after the new start of the team. They played in League VI.580.

Home and Away shirts used in Season 66, based on the Olympic Charleroi shirt.

Season Synopsis

Stadium

The Red Star Brussels stadium, the Leon Trotski Arena, was enlarged before the start of the season to accommodate 46.250 supporters. At the end of the season, it was again enlarged to seat 53.500 supporters.

Change of shirts

Red Star Brussels will start the season with the first of a six-season series of special edition shirts that commemorate shirts worn by the favourite teams of manager Lunacharsky, each in a setting referring to a special period in those teams' history. Teams that will be featured are Olympic Charleroi, AFC Wimbledon, FC Sankt Pauli, RWD Molenbeek, Antwerp FC and Liverpool FC. In season 66, they started with the Olympic Charleroi shirt that was used in season 2006-07, the year the team last promoted to the Belgium Second Division.

Pitch invasion in the final game against Skunk Anansie, when promotion to 5th division was ensured.

Season Summary

The ambition of the team was to finish at least second in this competition. However, when it became clear that the team that relegated to our division, oostende boven, decided to move away from our division and was replaced by a bot, the ambition was modified: Red Star Brussels would go for the title in the division. Later the bot teams in the league were replaced by new human players, but the objective to go for the title remained in place. The team continuously remained at the top of the league, winning the home and away games against their only serious contender, fc de jupilar zuipers, and as such ensured victory in the competition. With a perfect 42 points and 14/14 wins, a goal difference of 75, the team was the all-out winner in the competition. Zuculini became topscorer with 15 goals, Oyaert and de Schietere each scored 14 goals in the competition, and reached the second position in the topscorer list. This proved the overall dominance of the team in this competition.

In the Belgium Cup, no specific ambitions were formulated. The team reached the fourth round in the Cup, where they were eliminated by KSK United with 3-4. They played one more round in the Sapphire Round, in which they lost 4-1 against racing svelta.

Joske Oyaert became player of the season for the third time.
