Belgium (Dutch: België, French: Belgique, German: Belgien) is a Western European league, the 38th nation to join the Hattrick World.

History

  • The Belgium is one of the countries created on October 2001 (global season 14) along with other six countries.
  • That happened after, a user formerly playing in the USA, Pelotas, collect in Forum the opinion of belgian users asking for a separate league to be created for their country.
  • The first season was called season two and was restarted the first of January 2002 because there was an error in season one that caused the league to be created without any teams in it (in fact season 1, season 3 is season 2, etc.).
The current season is displayed as season 26, but it is only the 25th season of competition.
  • On February 2005, a country name poll collected the votes of around 4 200 Belgian users. They where asked to choose between België, Belgique and Belgium.
The name remained België as most of the voters wanted to keep it as country name: 57% as the drop down menu name, and 60% as the full name.
On 16th October 2009, less than 4 years later, the name was changed anyway. België was renamed to Belgium.
