The Eleventh World Cup tournament took place from 23 November 2007 to 15 June 2008.

120 national teams (6 new) played a total of 784 matches in the 16 groups of qualification in order to define the 32 participants to the final stage held in Belgium. The host nation was one of them, but was eliminated by România on goal difference in Round II.

The four semi-finalist team were a bit of a surprise: Česká republika, Latvija, Magyarország and Ukraina were not among the most credited at the start of the tournament for the final victory. The triumphers were the Czechs, who beat Ukraina in a close match. For Česká republika was the first title, but also the second final in just three editions (after the silver medal in World Cup IX).

Czech player Vlastislav Špinar shared the title of top scorer with Hungarian István Orsós, who scored 8 goals even if his team was eliminated in semi-final.

Hattrick announces
Česká republika – the new world champions! 15/6/2008
The World Cup final between Česká republika and Ukraina became a real nailbiter. Česká republika controlled the ball from the start, but it was difficult for them to get through Ukraina's defence. Moreover, they also had to watch out for Ukraina's sharp counter-attacks. In the end Česká was the stronger of the two and won the final with 2-1.

Congratulations Česká republika to your first World Cup victory, and especially to coach Ziky1!
