Inner midfielder (IM), or simply midfielder, is a player's position within Hattrick, probably the most important position as far as the matches are concerned. Accordingly, Having good playmakers in the inner midfield is crucial for the team.
Skills
The main skills used by these players are Playmaking and Passing. Defending, Stamina and a fair amount of Scoring are also very useful.
Contribution
Midfielders main function is to provide your team with possession through midfield ratings. They also give a contribution to offence and defence as well.
Individual Orders
Inner Midfielder's individual order determines what side profits the most. The possible individual orders for IM are:

Agglomeration Penalties
There are some agglomeration penalties, in case you play 2 or 3 midfielders on the same central position. Those penalties occur to all the skills of the players from that specific central compartment of your team and they are:
- 2 Inner Midfielders: -6.5%
- 3 Inner Midfielders: -17.5%
Specialities
An IM with no specialty is a decent middle ground without penalties. It's probably better than an Unpredictable IM without good defending. Here is a ranking of specialities on mid-fielders:
Head IM — improves chance of scoring on a set pieces, but can have negative effect from Technical wingers and forwards. This is probably the best for an IM.
Powerful IM — gains a bit of skills in the rain, but in the sun he might play worst and get tired early.
Technical IM — plays better in the sun. The downside is negative rain event.
Quick IM — can create quick events and also stop the same events triggered by opponent's wingers and forwards. Anyway he is dangerous because he gets penalty in rain and sun either.
Unpredictable IM — is better than nothing with good Passing+Defending skills, otherwise he can generate only negative special event.
Sitting midfielder
Powerful inner midfielder, if playing defensive, can concentrate on breaking up attacks and winning the ball. If he succeeds in pressing, the opponent’s attack breaks down. To create the Powerful Defensive Inner Midfielder special event, he will rely on his defending skill and stamina.
