The Italia U-20 national team represented Italy in juniores international friendlies and the U-20 World Cup from 2002 to 2021 when they became U-21. The last match was the world cup semi-final against Germany, the upcoming champion The Italian NT U-20 won a total of 4 world champion titles and played in 6 cup finals.

Italy also hosted two world cups: in U-20 World Cup VI the NT U-20 qualified for the event, but was eliminated in Round III; in U-20 World Cup XX they played final and became champions.

The "banner challenge", an official open contest in local forum, is traditionally the way the italian community starts a new mandate of NT and Under-20/21.
This tradition has been started by coach Pennywise80 during U-20 WC 10 campaign.
