Inner midfielder (IM), or simply midfielder, is a player's position within Hattrick, probably the most important position as far as the matches are concerned. Accordingly, Having good playmakers in the inner midfield is crucial for the team.
Skills
The main skills used by these players are Playmaking and Passing. Defending, Stamina and a fair amount of Scoring are also very useful.
Contribution
Midfielders main function is to provide your team with possession through midfield ratings. They also give a contribution to offence and defence as well.
Individual Orders
Inner Midfielder's individual order determines what side profits the most. The possible individual orders for IM are:
Normal inner midfielder
18.9% of his Defending for Side Defence (half to left and half to right if central) 40% of his Defending for Central Defence 100% of his Playmaking for Midfield 26% of his Passing for Side Attack (half to left and half to right if central) 32.5% of his Passing for Central Attack 22% of his Scoring for Central Attack
Defensive inner midfielder
— IMD needs more Defending and less Passing.
27% of his Defending for Side Defence (half to left and half to right if central) 59.4% of his Defending for Central Defence 94.4% of his Playmaking for Midfield 14% of his Passing for Side Attack (half to left and half to right if central) 18% of his Passing for Central Attack 13% of his Scoring for Central Attack
Inner midfielder towards wing
— IMTW needs more Wing (and Passing) and less Playmaking (and Defending). He gives a higher contribution to his side attack using more Passing skill and contributing also with his Wing skill, while contributing less to the midfield and central attack.
24% of his Defending for Side Defence 34.8% of his Defending for Central Defence 88.1% of his Playmaking for Midfield 59% of his Winger for Side Attack 27.1% of his Passing for Side Attack 22.7% of his Passing for Central Attack
Traditionally, IMTW was considered the worst order in Hattrick, but since Global season 35 it was significantly improved.
Offensive inner midfielder
— IMO needs more Passing and less Defending.
10.2% of his Defending for Side Defence (half to left and half to right if central) 16% of his Defending for Central Defence 94.4% of his Playmaking for Midfield 36% of his Passing for Side Attack (half to left and half to right if central) 48.3% of his Passing for Central Attack 31% of his Scoring for Central Attack
Overcrowding Penalty
There are penalties in case you play 2 or 3 midfielders on the same central position. These occur to all the skills of the players fielded in that specific central sector of your team:
- 2 Inner Midfielders: -6.5%
- 3 Inner Midfielders: -17.5%
Specialities
An IM with no specialty is a decent middle ground without penalties. It's probably better than an Unpredictable IM without good defending. Here is a ranking of specialities on mid-fielders:
- Head IM — improves chance of scoring on a set pieces, but can have negative effect from Technical wingers and forwards. This is probably the best for an IM.
- Powerful IM — gains a bit of skills in the rain, but in the sun he might play worst and get tired early.
- Technical IM — plays better in the sun. The downside is negative rain event.
- Quick IM — can create quick events and also stop the same events triggered by opponent's wingers and forwards. Anyway he is dangerous because he gets penalty in rain and sun either.
- Unpredictable IM — is better than nothing with good Passing+Defending skills, otherwise he can generate only negative special event.
