South Korea (한국 Hanguk in local language) is a Far East Asian country. It was the 28th nation to join the Hattrick World.
The Republic of Korea (대한민국 Daehan Minguk) has a total area of 219 155 km2 (84 616 sq mi). Half of ROK people, over 51 million, live in the Seoul Capital Area. The Korean Peninsula's first kingdom was noted in the early 7th century BC. After annexation into the Empire of Japan in 1910, Korea was divided into Soviet and U.S.-administered zones following the World War II and Korean War. As a result, Korean Peninsula is still divided into two distinct sovereign states: the "Democratic People's Republic of Korea" and the "Republic of Korea".
History
- South Korean league was created in May 2001 (global season 13).
- South Korea has seen a steady, if somewhat slow, growth in the number of team during the first 30 local seasons.
- The league was extended to 6 divisions at the beginning of local season 24, but then the league was reduced to 5 at the end of local season 39.
- South Korea hosted first World Cup together with Japan.
