^  In World Cup XIII, Ireland tied for second place in their Round IV group with England on points, goal differential, and goals scored. Consequently, the Hattrick staff broke the tie in England's favor using team ranking, provoking a strong protest from the Irish user base as the decision cost Ireland its first medal. Points of contention included the lack of documentation of the tiebreaking process as well as the lack of commentary from the Hattrick staff to indicate how the tie had been broken.
