Events of Note[edit]

England and Ireland tied for second place (and advancement to the semifinals) on points, goal differential, goals scored, and in the match between the teams in Round IV, Group 2. The tie was broken in England's favor, prompting a storm of protests from Ireland users over the lack of transparency in the tiebreaking rules. The following season saw an addition to the NT Rules from the HTs which explained that the group ranking would be determined by points, goal difference, goals scored, and then "Rank in last WC (for qualification) / Rank before final group game (round II, III and IV)". This is why England progressed at the expense of Ireland as they had a higher rank going into the match.

HT Announcements[edit]

2.2.2009 World Cup to Hellas
It is time for the Hattrick World Cup to return to Europe, and the hosts of the 13th installment of the tournament will be Hellas (Greece). Congratulations! Qualification games will start in February and the final game takes place in September.
4.9.2009 World Cup semifinals tonight
Tonight, at 20.00 HT-time, the semi finals of the 13th Hattrick World Cup will kick off in Hellas (Greece). In Gyziakos Arena near Athens Germany will face England, and out in the Aegan archipelago Denmark faces Spain in the imposing Zakynthos Arena, which easily holds the entire population of its home island. The temperature will be high - on the pitch, in the stands and presumably in the air, as well... the victors may be the ones that keep a cool head tonight.
5.9.2009 World cup final and elections
Tomorrow at 20.00 (HT-time) it is time for the last match of this season: the World Cup XIII final.

On Monday it is then time to elect a new national coach, and the election can be found here. Be sure to stop by the forum to check out the candidates' speeches and participate in the debate, but remember to follow the forum rules.
