Jo Engelen (Turnhout, Belgium) is a Belgian football player who actualy plays for SVV Red Star Brussels. He is a winger.
Early career
Engelen became a professional football player when he was recruited by de flamingas in the Antwerp Region. He is a good friend of Ignacio Lazcano, who he met in their mutual hometown Turnhout. He was soon transferred to the Dutch team CFC Thor, but rarely played at this team. He received a transfer back to Belgium, to Diamond Studs in West-Vlaanderen.
Breaktrough
At his new team Diamond Studs, he soon would become a key element on the Wing. He played a few matches as a Wingback as well, but proved to be a real winger after all. Jo Engelen would play more then 100 official matches in 12 seasons, before transferring to the Bosnian team F.k. Juventus. He would play some games, but was soon transferred back to Belgium, to SVV Red Star Brussels
Career at SVV Red Star Brussels
Jo Engelen was, together with his friend Ignacio Lazcano, one of the two players SVV Red Star Brussels recruited to reïnforce its wing. Both players were very happy to be able to train together, and their friendship flourished again. Engelen would become a key element on the wing.

Engelen lives in an appartment in Elsene, Brussels. He lives together with his girlfriend Marijke, the couple has no children. He is a good friend of fellow teammate Ignacio Lazcano.
