Morocco (المغرب‎, al-Maghrib in Arabic;, ⵍⵎⵖⵔⵉⴱ, lmeɣrib in Beber; Maroc in French) is an African country. It was the 68th nation to join the Hattrick World.

Kingdom of Morocco (literally "The Western Kingdom") spans an area of 710 850 km2 (274 460 sq mi) and has a population of over 36 million. The capital is Rabat and the largest city is Casablanca.
In 788 AD the first Moroccan state was established. In 17th century Morocco avoided Ottoman occupation, but in 1912, it was divided into French and Spanish protectorates. Morocco regained its independence in 1956, and today it still claims the non-self-governing territory of Western Sahara, formerly Spanish Sahara, as its Southern Provinces.


History

  • Moroccan league has existed since November 2003. It is one of the six new countries created for global season 21.
  • The Moroccan top division was renamed from GNF1 to Botola somewhere between local season 18 and 22.
  • Morocco has not hosted any World Cup yet.
