Botswana (also called Botswana in Setswana, the second official language after English) is an African country. It was the 139th nation to join the Hattrick World.

Geography.png Republic of Botswana was formerly known as the British protectorate of Bechuanaland, before becoming independent within the Commonwealth in 1966.
A mid-sized country of just over 2.3 million people, Botswana is one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world, 70 percent of its territory being the Kalahari Desert. Around 10 percent of the population lives in the capital and largest city, Gaborone.


  • Batswana league has existed since June 2020. It was one of the four new leagues created before global season 75.
