Lokomotiv Veltem Back-on-Track hosted F.C. Rafmans on 17 February 2019 as part of the 13th matchday of season 70 of the VI.87 series, which was an exact repeat fixture of the same matchday one season prior to that, which back then ended in a 3 – 0 home win. While relatively unimportant for the league result due to both teams being out of contention for promotion, surprisingly the match was again an unofficial Clubteams World Champions title match as was the case in their earlier encounter, with F.C. Rafmans now taking revenge for the loss a few months before, now becoming the new UCWC champion following a 2 – 3 win due to a late strike by Mario Kempeneer following a surprise move by teammate Kai Ullman. The win was surprising, as betting offices predicted a comfortable 2 – 0 home win prior to the match, giving F.C. Rafmans less than a 2% chance of winning.

Match report

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 39875 at The Railroads today. Luca Spolaore was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Mphafi Njie and Irmantas Sklasčius.

The following players had been chosen by Back-on-Track: Ballout - Rebelo, Garardi - Bilon, Guðjónsson, Van Lede, Van Keymeulen, Kazishvili - Otchigin, Zhivotnev, Paşcan. FCRM's lineup was: Kaçe - Martens, Carstens, Ullman, Speichiger, Portimojärvi - Baccarani, MacKelpin, Pöhlmann - Barlex, Caridad.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team Lokomotiv Veltem Back-on-Track went for 2-5-3 while F.C. Rafmans has decided to play a 5-3-2 lineup.

First half

FCRM took the lead 8 minutes into the game, making the score 0 - 1 after some elegant movement down the middle. Tommi Portimojärvi was the scorer. After a savage shot that could only be parried by the keeper, Nikolay Zhivotnev demonstrated his experience by being in just the right place to slot home the rebound. His goal for Back-on-Track 18 minutes into the match made the score 1 - 1. The referee showed Back-on-Track's Helmut Van Keymeulen the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. In the 28th minute, Shayne Barlex went down in terrible pain, clutching his right ankle. This was a returning injury and, needless to say, he could not continue the match. Mario Kempeneer tried to hide a smile as he entered the field. He had not expected to get a chance this day. The unexpected cross pass from FCRM's Kai Ullman after 37 minutes opened up the defence and was received by Eleazar Caridad who finished off for 1 - 2. After 38 minutes, Nikolay Zhivotnev made a dash down the middle past the away team's defenders to score the goal that made it 2 - 2. Jed Ignaz Speichiger of FCRM received a yellow card after 40 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Halftime score was 2 - 2. Possession in this half belonged to Back-on-Track, who controlled the ball 65 percent of the time.

Second half

That FCRM's Kai Ullman has the ability of doing what no one expects him to do was shown as he ran over an opposing defender, snatched the ball and passed to Mario Kempeneer who hit it hard into the wide open goal after 84 minutes: 2 - 3! George-Daniel Paşcan charged down the left and had a wonderful opportunity to score the equaliser for Back-on-Track, but the shot went well wide of the goal. Back-on-Track's Kornelius Bilon got himself booked for a foul. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 3 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact.

Post match

The match ends 3 - 0. Back-on-Track had most of the ball, with 66 percent of possession. Back-on-Track's top performer was clearly Guido De Muynck. However, Kornelius Bilon made a disastrous appearance. Eleazar Caridad performed admirably for FCRM. Sedrick Flehmig on the other hand, had a terrible day.
