The U-20 World Cup is an international tournament for National Teams. The competition for Under-20 players begins a season after the World Cup, and follows the same format.
The U-20 World Cup was a national teams tournament for under 20-yo players.
The tournament is being held since global season16.
It was played a total of 31 editions from global season 16 (July 2002), and follows the same format of the senior World Cup.

Unlike the World Cup, the U-20 World Cup offers a lot of chances to motivated teams with a smaller user base or shorter history in Hattrick. Because players are only eligible until their 21st birthday, U-20 competition places a premium on organization and training, and there is very little carry-over from one competition to the next.
Starting from global season 77 (January 2021), the U-20 World Cup was replaced by the U-21 World Cup.

Campaigns
Unlike the senior World Cup, the Under 20 World Cup tournament offers more chances to make a good result for motivated teams even with a smaller user base or a shorter history in Hattrick. The competition rewards organization and training in the short term since players only have access to the national team until their 21st birthday and only very few players are able to take part in two consecutive campaigns.
A new U-20 World Cup campaign is started nearly as soon as the old campaign is completed, which takes two seasons.
The qualification round starts with U-20 national teams from all countries that are a part of Hattrick at the start of the campaign. 32 teams advance from this round to the World Cup. There are three round-robin group stages, with 4 teams to a group and the top two teams qualifying for the next stage. The final two rounds are playoff matches, beginning with the semi-finals and culminating in the World Cup Final.
The final rounds of a U-20 WC campaign are hosted by one nation. This nation is determined by the HTs.

The U-20 World Cup was a national teams tournament for under 20-yo players. It was played a total of 31 editions from global season 16 (July 2002), and follows the same format of the senior World Cup.

Starting from global season 77 (January 2021), the U-20 World Cup was replaced by the U-21 World Cup.

Format

A new U20 World Cup starts as soon as the previous one is completed, with an election for a two seasons mandate. The qualifying round takes the first season and begins with the participation of all U-20 national teams active in the Hattrick World. Seeding for the next U-20 World Cup is based on ranking, which is determined by previous World Cup results.

At its peak, 128 national teams took part to Qualifications in 16 "double round-robin" groups of 8 teams each. 32 teams, the top two in each group, move on to the next stage and qualify for the World Cup hosted by one country previously determined by the Hattrick Team. Three round-robin group stages are then played, with 4 teams to a group and the top two teams qualifying for the next stage.

The final two rounds are playoff matches, beginning with the semi-finals and culminating in the U-20 World Cup Final, played on last Sunday of second season at 20:00 HT.

Editions

Nineteen countries were or are being visited so far for the final rounds of the U-20 World Cup. Oceania has been visited once, Africa and South America twice each, North America and Asia thrice each - the others times the host was from Europe.
